Hey all, I am hoping might some experience with it and be able to point me in the right direction. I have a Toshiba 46HM95 DLP.
A little while back, my TV started flickering and having display issues. I read around online, and found several suggestions. I wasn't sure what the actual problem was, but after returning from a trip this weekend, I went to turn the TV on and had the lamp finally go. It did not surprise me that this was the issue, as the TV is over 3 years old.
I found a new lamp in stock here in town and bought it today. I brought it home, installed and turned the TV, and everything was looking fine ... for about 10 minutes.
Everything was crisp and clean for a short bit (popped in a DVD to see how it looked, and flipped through channels). However, I then noticed some weird flickering to start again, and colors appear pixelated. However, this wasn't the same as before with my old lamp. For lack of a better to describe this, while the old lamp was dying, the flickering and problems almost seemed to be part of the picture, almost in the background. Now, the flickering more appears to be the screen itself, and almost appears at times like the lamp is too bright. I know, that explanation makes no sense.
Also, the biggest way this is different, is that before the flickering was reserved to the parts of the screen with picture (so with sides cropped, nothing noticeable appeared there). Now, the flickering is across the whole screen, and creating double/triple images of the picture.
So, I guess my first thought is that I got a bad lamp. If I turn the TV off and back on, I get a picture that is fine for a couple minutes, and then the flickering starts. It happens on all inputs as well.
Any thoughts on what has happened? I really don't want to call in service yet, as I was only just able to afford the lamp right now, and can't imagine paying them for something that may be as simple as a bad new lamp.
