Please excuse my ignorance - I don't gamble at the tables, but I have been instructed to bring home a $5 poker chip from both The Golden Nugget and Binions for a friend. Where do I go in the casinos to do this? Thanks in advance!

it's sort of weird to go up to a table ask for chips, then walk away. you could go to the casino cashier cage and see if they'll let you buy one.

That's what my brother-in-law did, just went to the cashier and got the individual chip he wanted from each casino. They were all fine with it.

I think casinos are ecstatic if you want to give them money for a chip you have no intention of redeeming. Ultimate house edge.

I collect casino chips, just go to the cashier window and tell them waht you want, sometimes they will try to find one that is not real nasty and dirty.

Exactly. Just find a teller that doesn't have a long line and ask nicely if he or she could find you a good condition chip for a friend back home.

I collect casino chips,

Any rare or unique ones you've collected over the years?

I also collect the occasional limited edition chips that many casinos release for holidays and events. If you are going to be out in Vegas during one of these times, you might try getting one of those for your friend. If you get them from the cage, you normally can pay face value.

I have a couple of cool $25 chips from the Hard Rock (Aerosmith, Hendrix), and one of those poker-chip money clips to hold them. Check the casino gift shops for the money clip. It's a neat way to 'use' the chips.
