Best enrollment deal ever?
I gave it a try, even though my one and only CH.com account has been closed for like 4 years, and my applications to CH.com during the last year have been "lost."
Thanks, pilot!

It would appear so. For those who do/did not have ch.com accounts, one would just have to hope that they are not cross referencing people who sign up with people who have/had ch.com accounts or had sent the email, which.. well... I seriously seriously doubt.

It's not that complicated. I use a different email address for every account I open with them.
And yeah, the maximum is 2 per person (+2 TV clubs, so 4 max all together).
Why not close one account? Both not fulfilled?

I've never used Columbia House before. Is this offer intended as a trial membership? And what are the limitations on choosing the 2 DVDs -- as long as they have it in stock, you can order it... 2-disc, 3-disc, box sets, Criterion, what?

It's not intended as a trial membership, it's actually intended to convert memebers of their other site, ch.com, which is closing. But if you have the code 2GG, you may be able to get in on the deal even if you were never a member of ch.com, which is what a lot of us are counting on. Normally the best deal is to buy 6 for 49 cents, 1 for 9.95, and 2 more to buy in the next 2 years (which you have to pay at least 19.95 for). If you wait for a B1G1 offer with free shipping before fulfilling your commitment, you can get 4 more DVD's for only 39.90, which brings your average cost for the whole shebang to approximately 4.80 per DVD (12.89 for your enrollment package of 7 DVD's, and 39.90 for your fulfillment, so 11 DVD's for 52.79). A lot of us just cycle accounts over and over using this method to build our DVD collections.
While that's a pretty decent deal, the ability to buy 2 for less than 6 bucks with nothing more to buy ever is even better.
As far as which DVD's are available, it must be available as an enrollment title (which excludes box sets and most multi-disc sets). Just go to ColumbiaHouse.com and browse the selection. Anything that you can get with the default offer (5 for 49 cents, with X more to buy in the next 2 years etc.) will also be available when you use this code. If you're looking for something specific, and can't find it, just type it into the search box. If it comes up, it will either come up with the price of .49, or it will say Members Only (meaning it is available thru the club, but not as an enrollment title). Then you just pick your two DVD's, with nothing more to buy. You can also check the data miner thread to find out which titles are currently available as enrollments.

It looks like I got approved. I have never had an issue of getting an account from CH (haven't had too many in the past, maybe 4 over the course of a couple years). I know sometimes people get authorizations and then they drop off, but I get real-time notification of when something is charged on my CC (when a charge is actually charged, not a temp charge or authorization) and at like 2 am I got a alert CH charged me (applied 6/9 at about 2:30pm EST), so anybody who applied shortly after I made my post should be in the same boat (no welcome email yet - however)

I got my approval e-mail today as well, after applying on the 11th. Wasn't sure this deal would work for me since I've never had a CH.com account before. But I have had numerous regular columbiahouse.com accounts over the years. I just came back here after several years of hiatus, because my toddler grandson got into my DVD collection and trashed several, so I wanted to replace them plus pick up a few new releases. After this CH deal I'll probably go for another round of the main club too. I have to dig up my spreadsheet with all my PSN's from years ago -- is there still any major benefit to using PSN codes? From the current deals I've glanced over I don't see as big a benefit to them now.

If they're both temporary authorizations, that's actually quite common with Columbia House in my experience with them. Chances are that one of them will drop off before being finalized, so I would wait to see if it does before calling them. It seems like they do the temporary authorization just to check availablity on your credit card when you create the order, then instead of finalizing the original charge, they create a new charge when they actually ship the order. The first charge drops off without becoming finalized.

My card doesn't show temp authorizations; they're full charges, all right. I called CH this morning and they confirmed that they sent out two enrollment packages by mistake so I'm just supposed to return one and they'll credit the difference. (The CSR was kind of stupid though; she said I should dispute it with my CC company without realizing that it would cost CH $25 in chargeback fees.)

Got a reply back.. they canceled the account and cleared it of all charges (well, what charges? There weren't any.)
Dunno if I just ticked em off or not. Guess I'll find out if any future accounts don't get approved.

Thanks for the application, 7-12-09.
Welcome aboard, 7-14-09.
But the welcome to the club email says "Keep an eye out for your first Director's Selection."
The reason I signed up for this was, as others have mentioned, it would be a good account to keep open while waiting for good sales because there is no Director's Selection hassle.
What's the deal?
BTW, I ordered Quantum of Solace and Hatari!. I have 2 charges on my card, but I'll give it a while for one of them to disappear before I get worried.
*EDIT to add* Not a CH.com member.

I tried 4 times now. The second app went though, the other 3 lost.

I was a CH.COM member, but I never received the e-mail. Does anyone have the proper link?

I had to click that link several times before the correct offer showed up. The first few clicks took me to the standard membership offer. Weird.

You usually can't enter a code on the main page, at least in my experience. You actually have to click on one of the titles to get to the title selection screen, and input the code on that screen.

I signed up for one of these accounts (2@$2.99) about a week or so ago.
I've heard here how some were charged twice, but being that it's only $6, I didn't rush to check my card to see if I was double charged too. Figured I'd get to it sooner or later.
This particular account, I did recieve a WELCOME email. So at that point, I just went ahead and sent them an email to close the account, even though I didn't receive the 2 dvds yet. The next day, they replied back saying the account had been closed... so far so good.
Yesterday, I finally received the 2 dvds. Still never checked my card though. I actually just totally forgot to.
Now today, I received the following email from CH...

The same thing just happened to me.

CH sent me a duplicated order, but they also refunded my card twice. So now I have them for free. I want to be honest, but I can't waste my time calling them and asking them to charge me again...I mean, they screwed up twice.

For some reason, when I log in now, it takes me to the account payment view and says that I have $0 balance. There is a button that says continue shopping but it just takes me back to the same place.
Anybody else getting this? Don't know what to do.

Hahaha. You think it is because of the double refund? Strange. I would have thought they would have tried to collect $5.98 from me.
FWIW, this was my first ever CH account.

Stranger things have happened. I've had tons of accounts with CH. One time I opened up a regular account. Got my enrollment dvds in the mail. A few days later went to log in to the account and could not.
Called them and they said the account was closed.
When I said I just opened it, they said I could just re-apply for a new account.
So I got like 8 dvds for enrollment cost and never had to fulfill the account.

Knowing CH & with your (possible) luck, you probably just got black-balled. And, on your first time out. That would be impressive -&- par for the course for CH.

Well, good for me that I move around a lot and have a bunch of cards.
