DVD Talk review of 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' (Blu-ray)
I read DVD Savant's DVD review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=37408 and...
This may be just a minor nitpick, but it seems a bit harsh to rate this as a "recommended" vs a "highly recommended" movie release. 4 stars across the board, and at the bottom the movie, audio and video all rate as excellent. Based on the review itself, it seems as though it is being given a highly recommended rating at the least.
Am I off a bit on this, just from reading the review, was there an error in the ranking, or is this just a personal preference? Sorry for the nitpicking of this, but I'm sure some people, like me, just look at the overall rating and dismiss or jump further into a title based on that...

Well, the Blu-ray release did not include everything from prior releases as far as extras...which it should--it's Blu-ray. So, while the video is superb and audio is as good as it ever will be...it falls short overall. If these reviews did not take into account extras, there would be many more Highly Recommended ratings and Collector's Series additions. And of course, it's a tough call when you're comparing one review to all the others and you don't want to cut it short of raves, but don't want to over-inflate it, either if another movie comes along with similar video ratings but carries over all the extras from prior releases.

They really should have included the original mono. The new sound effects stick out like a soar thumb and are terrible while the originals are classic. It seems like a lot of movies copied the sound effects on the gun shots when the film was released and now they're gone.
