FYE Rebates & Visa?

Has FYE partnered up with Visa for their rebates??? I received 5 of my submitted rebates in the form of Visa debit cards instead of checks. Is this the new SOP for the FYE rebates now? I know money is money but I was always using the checks to replace the money I put out. I cannot do this with debit cards. Anyone running into this recently?

They have had the "option" for a while, yes. But I have never seen them default to it before. Once you receive the email that they have received your rebate submission, you can go to fyerebates.com and choose how you would like to receive your rebate (check, Visa Debit Card, or TWEC gift card). I actually like those Visa Debit cards, since I don't like making trips to the bank to deposit checks.

Yup me too since I have high interest internet banking and the closest bank is 30 minutes away.

HIGH interest? I'm sure it is higher than what local bank chains have, but I find it hard to believe that anybody has what can be considered HIGH interest...

I don't mind the Visa gift cards - I just convert them directly into an Amazon gift certificate for myself. I'll usually make an Amazon order every couple of months at least so this way I don't have to worry about how to use up the gift cards/carry them/etc.

Seems like a waste of plastic for a $7 rebate tho.

Warning: the rebate Visa cards have a monthly $3 account maintenance fee. The fee is waived for the first 6 months after the card is issued.

Re: FYE Rebates & Visa?

Done tons of FYE rebates and never got a card. Knew it was an option, just not how to choose that option. I just deposit the checks in the atm on my way home from work.

I do remember that the "Twilight" rebate was a Visa Debit card but nothing else was.

I believe it is after first use and not after the card is issued.

Nope. "Subject to applicable law, a monthly maintenance fee of $3 (USD) applies but is waived for the first six months after the card is issued."
