Prison Break: The Final Break -- 2 Hour movie

Photobucket

Okay, so I couldn't wait and decided to watch this. Overall, I was entertained even though I was satisfied with the Series Finale. I would say viewing this movie is optional. If you were 100% satisfied with the Series Finale and don't feel a need to see the characters again, then you probably don't need to watch this. This movie does fill in a few gaps in the series finale and brings back a character that was MIA for the last few episodes.

The Plot:

Spoiler:

The movie takes place a few months after Michael, Linc and everyone is pardoned. It begins with Michael and Sara's wedding which is attended by Linc and Sucre. Shortly after the wedding, Miami-Dade Police arrest Sara and charge her with the murder of Christina Hamption (aka Schofield). Apparently Christina was good at hiding her true identity and Sara was in essence charged with the murder of a "Technology Consultant." The Police were apparently unhappy about the Pardons and needed to find someone to take the blame for Christina's muder and found a loophole that enabled them to do so. Sara is then sent to a maximum security Prison in Miami where she is supposed to serve 25 to Life. Michael decides to formulate a new plan to break Sara out.

Sara is pretty much the focus of the plot. I think the Producers of Prison Break decided to use some story elements from the scrapped Female Prison Break spinoff that was being discussed.

Which characters return:

Spoiler:

Michael
Linc
Sara
Sucre
Mahone
T-Bag
The General
Gretchen

The General and T-Bag are serving sentences at the Men's Maximum Security Prison

Sara meets Gretchen at the Prison and the 2 end of working together.

Does the movie explain what happened to Michael?

Spoiler:

Yes, without giving it totally away. Michael's fate will be determined at the end of the film. I thought it was a sad and touching end for his character.

It was lightly mentioned in the series finale. But, yes the brain tumor did come back and Michael discovered his prognosis.

What about Sara's scar?

Spoiler:

Sara has to join a Prison gang for protection. The gang is led by Tank Girl herself Lori Petty. They initiate her by branding a snake onto her back, which you see the scars in the 4 years later segment of the Series Finale.

Also, I thought it was cool that a couple of members from the 24 creative team worked on this movie. Brad Turner directed it and Michael Klick produced it.

Re: Prison Break: The Final Break -- 2 Hour movie

It might have been fun to see a women-in-prison mini-season of Prison Break (like 13 episodes). This was okay, not too terrible and a fitting bookend to the show.

I liked it a lot...and the Michael final scene was great... and to those who said Sara's scar was from Season 3 when Gretchen was torturing her when I said it would probably be revealed in this movie how she got it..."Hate to say I told you so...well alright!"

I liked it, it was a nice extra for fans. It was cool to see what happened to Michael, instead of just wondering. Besides who doesn't like a little women in prison action.

Hmmm, I definitely have to see this. I'm pretty satisfied with the way the finale went down (I'm mostly just relieved that this show is FINALLY over), except for the fact that Gretchen never came back after being shot. She was my favorite part of this season and I really missed her at the end.

Probably got an early review copy. It doesn't release until later in June I believe.

It's available via alternate reality. If you catch my drift.

Just got done watching it. Really great. It was nice to see all the characters again and get some more resolution. I'm definitely going to miss the show.

I didn't understand what happened to Michael.

Spoiler:
How did he die? Did he get electrocuted?

Re: Prison Break: The Final Break -- 2 Hour movie

I will be renting season 4 and the final when it comes out on dvd. Without giving anything away please let me know if this is true to do. I read it from a review on Amazon:

My recommendation is to watch the series finale up to the "Four Years Later" sequence, then seeing Prison Break: The Final Break, then returning to the season finale and watching the last few minutes (the montage at the end). The storyline is thus complete and makes more sense as well as provides more canon and insight into the lives and storyline of each characters.

Thanks for any recomendations.

Yes, actually that is the perfect way to watch it.

Yes

Spoiler:

He was hoping to avoid doing that by creating that special credit card that would short circuit the system and enable the door to open. What Michael did was the last alternative.

I think that "Final Break" is a great end to the series and is must viewing for any fan of this show. The only thing I don't understand is why Fox decided not to air these two episodes. The show's finale would have been absolutely perfect if viewed as per the above.

It's probably VHS Quality. It was pulled from a TV broadcast.

Re: Prison Break: The Final Break -- 2 Hour movie

Ripped from an HD source but looked like standard def - getting the blu-ray for sure (well, if Fox ever releases Season 2 and 4 on BD, I'll grab Final Break... if they don't announce either of those, especially season 4, then I probably won't).

I think you could easily stop the 'finale' before the 4 years later, watch this and then resume the finale's coda - but I did like the dramatic irony when watching The Final Break, because we know what's going to happen.

Fox only ordered and paid for a 22 episode season. The producers decided to do this seperately. In some countries they were able to sell the broadcast rights to networks that were showing season 4. I guess Fox did not want to pay for the additional episodes. As always it comes down to money.

Re: Prison Break: The Final Break -- 2 Hour movie

I thought it was decent. It was good to go back to the actual breaking out of prison scenes.

I'd love to see a series around Lori Petty's character. She was great.
