I recently bought a toshiba dvd player. I can't remember the model number, but it was $299 and had a duel tray. The sale person at best buy told me it could play cd-r vcds, but I took it home and it didn't.
Doesn't anyone know if the toshiba can play a specific brand of cd-r or am I taking it back to best buy?
Also, does anyone know the model number of the sonys that can play cd-r vcds. I've read in these posts that some can.
Thanks for any help...

Will it play CD-Rs at all? Try a music CD. There are two possibilities. One: Your DVD player CAN play VCD, but it cannot read CD-R. Many DVD players have a problem reading CD-R, as it is not quite as reflective as a normal CD.
Two: Your DVD player cannot play VCDs. My guess is it CAN play VCDs, it just can't read CD-Rs. Maybe you misunderstood the salesperson?

The Tosh 1200&2200 play VCD&HDCD, NOT CD-R.(Toshiba's 2109&3109 don't do CD-R either.)
ALL recent Pioneer players (414, 525 ,626 , 333...) and some Phillips players (825) will play CD-R. For an entry/budget player w/CD-R, Pioneer's 525 is a very good choice.
