A few issues I'm having...

I originally bought an apex 600a about a month ago, excited about its' "features" and mp3 decoder. For me, DVD playback was kind of an afterthought. Until I began renting/buying DVD's. Now I'm hooKed!!

Instead of listening to mass amts of music on it, I'm watching mass amts of movies!!!

So I'm thinking of selling the apex on *bay and buying a *better* dvd player. Any advice on what I should get?

I plan to spend $300 or so

Also, where do I get a chip to *mod* the new dvd player I'll be getting. Disabling the CSS would be important.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

A couple good DVD players around your price range are the Toshiba 1200 & 2200 and the Pioneer DV525. All of these models are excellent.

As far as "modding" your player, you might want to look here: http://www.codefreedvd.com/
(thanks to Hannibal for that one)

Cheers,

You mean disabling Macrovision or Region ID right? CSS is kinda bad. You wouldn't get a picture. useful for finding out the diff. between legit DVDs and bootlegs though.

Yes, Hades..I was referring to the Macrovision. Not the CSS. I stand corrected
