I noted that the owner's manual for this *NEAT* little toy says not to use one; however, I have heard that some people do. Where do I get a cheap one that won't burn out my unit? Will it actually hurt it?

Thanks.

I use one I picked up at Wal-Mart. It has a switch that lets you select the proper voltage (in this case 9v) and works very well. The only problem is that the plug that fits into the power jack doesn't have a very snug fit so you may want to wrap some electrical tape around it so it fits better. Sorry I don't have a model number handy.

Try the following http://www.mitocorp.com/powerxtn.htm
(auto/airplane adapter for DVD-L10/DVD-L50)

I jhave used an earlier model (Mito C040-501 -- a custom car adapter for the DVDL-10/L50) with a DVD-L10 for about 2 years with no problems. Given the high draw of these units, I would stay away from car adapters not specifically designed for them.

Mito's prices may be on the high side, but their products are well made.

Thanks for the replies. The Mito adapter is a little pricey...about $100.00. It seems logical that a high draw item like the portable DVD player does deserve a quality accessory though!

Any other solutions?

Thanks

Another plug for the Walmart adapter. This has been researched and subsequently purchased by many portable dvd owners who all agreed that for 17.00 you can't go wrong. The device lets you set it for the exact amps and voltage required by the dvd player. You can't go wrong with this unit.

How much did you guys pay for the L50's? I am trying to eventually get one from Qool.com, but everytime I get more coins, everyone else seems to get more and the auction price for those units goes up
