Parks and Recreation -- Season Finale -- "Rock Show" -- 5/14/09

Parks

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

In the Season 1 finale, Leslie tries to impress a Pawnee bigwig, while the rest of the gang attends Andy's first gig since he broke his legs in the pit.

Well, that was fast. I thought this mini-season was okay. Hopefully now with 13 episodes to work with next season, they will be able to flesh things out more, but I think this show is going to have a really hard time catching on with mainstream viewers.

Re: Parks and Recreation -- Season Finale -- "Rock Show" -- 5/14/09

This was probably my favorite overall episode of the season. For once, Leslie didn't just feel like a bumbling idiot. I know they try to paint her up as the do-gooder, but most of the time it just comes off as her being not very bright. They made her character look really good tonight. I look forward to it coming back.

Oh...and Aziz was killing it as usual.

This really crept up on me, from the very bland first episode to this one, six episodes later. Really impressive. Can't wait for the second season.

"You know that Mark dude?"

How about that cast removal in the opener.

Amy looked damn good tonight.

She always look good unless she is sporting a Hilary Clinton haircut.

This episode was better than the 30 rock finale.

Tom- How do you describe your music?

Andy -it is a cross between Matchbox 20 and The Fray

Tom - So is it rock?

they advertised a extended cut of the episode will be available online.

Hope they release this on DVD.

Definitely the best episode of the series thus far. I think it still has a long way to go to catch up to 30 Rock and The Office, but there is at least something there now to look forward to next season.

Maybe I'll have to give it another try if there is a second season. The first episode turned me off to the rest of the "season".

Re: Parks and Recreation -- Season Finale -- "Rock Show" -- 5/14/09

Ansari owns any scene he is in. Him introducing his wife was absolute gold ("She's hot, and a surgeon, so she makes a ton of money!"). Same goes for the boss, Ron. Him being with his ex-wife's better-looking sister because they both hate her was pretty funny.

I figured one of them was going to fall into the pit, given that they were drinking. Still funny though, especially Andy's reaction.

Glad this is coming back for a Second Season. Started off rocky, but gained momentum each week.

Re: Parks and Recreation -- Season Finale -- "Rock Show" -- 5/14/09

Definitely got better as the season went along. I'm confused though because Tom seemed he was trying to pick up chicks at the bar with Mark an episode or so ago, but now he's married? I guess that sort of fits in with his personality, though. He's always got the best line.

"How did Leslie meet her date?"
"She read him books at the old age home."

I'm wondering how they are going to continue working Rashida Jones into the plot. Unless the pit plot continues for the run of the show.

I haven't watched the finale yet (I was too busy seeing Ben Folds last night), but I know that Tom mentioned in that episode that he was married as well as in the very first episode when he was hitting on Rashida Jones at the town hall meeting.

Yes, Tom has indeed mentioned it in the past.

I think the pit issue will run through the series. That's one of the jokes they've been going with-- that government takes forever to do something.

To further what has already been said on the matter of Tom's wife. He was indeed trying to pick up chicks. When someone brought up the fact that he was married, he replied that his wife understood that if you are going to be in politics you have to be out there; he might've even said that you can't make it in politics unless you have affairs, but I'm not sure.

Haha, a guy I worked with was in a band called "Rhymes with Orange." Made me laugh when that was like one of the band's names.

Tom mentioning him being married and his wife being ok with him going to bars trying to pick up girls (and them both being upset he's unsuccessful at it) was a small scene at the very end after it seemed like the episode ended

He also mentions the marriage in the pilot when Rashida's character is first introduced.

Re: Parks and Recreation -- Season Finale -- "Rock Show" -- 5/14/09

Have a taste of my chicken. Just a bit. Have a bit. A little taste. Chicken. Chicken. Chicken. Chicken.

Who wants to see me climb a tree?

By the way, do you like the Everly Brothers.

The show started out very similar to The Office for me. The first few episodes were fairly weak, but the last two episodes of each first season really picked up the pace.

If it follows that pattern, I think it has the potential to move beyond the mediocrity it is currently dwelling in, and become something truly worth watching.

Don't know what to say man. I've always been into Amy. To me she looks good on the show, and she looked really good all made up for the date in this ep.

I head Chris Pratt the actor who plays that role is dating Anna Faris.

That was definitely the best episode thus far. If they can keep that up, I'll definitely keep watching.

Can't believe this was the season finale already. Was that a super short season? It felt like 6 episodes or so.

it was 6 episodes. i think it was just a test to see how it fared. obviously well enough for NBC to give it another season.
