Wii Virtual Console Questions
I'd like to get a Wii, and if I do it will be primarily for the virtual console.
Can you back up the games or transfer them for another system?
Right now I play my parents Wii, but would like to get my own system. If I download games on their system, will I be able to transfer them to mine?
What happens if my system breaks?
Approximately how many games can get stored on the hard drive?
Anyone have problems with virtual console?

The Wii does not have a hard drive, only internal flash memory, and it is not much (like 512 megs)....how many games it will hold all depends on what games you buy, as N64 games are large files, but NES games are small....luckily, like I said, you can transfer games off of the system onto SD cards, and due to the firmware fix, you can play the games pretty much directly off of the cards now....
The only problem I have with the VC is that Nintendo is not supporting it nearly as well as they should be!!

Re: Wii Virtual Console Questions
I haven't booted up my Wii in months.
Has there been a new firmware fix out or something to transfer games on to SD cards?
Does that mean I can copy games from my Wii onto my SD card and take them to my parents Wii and play them there?

It isn't needed now. They let you play them from an SD card and the Wii supports SDHC so you could buy a 32GB one if you wanted and that could hold a huge amount of downloadable content.

So if I download $100 worth of games and my Wii breaks - I'm screwed?
Also, can you save games at any point - even if the original you couldn't? Like the original SMB?

For the 8 and 16bit games it does remember your place if you leave the game and come back to play later. You can't set your own save states like other emulators though. You get one save state when you exit the game and it overwrites it if you continue later.
