wait wait,
now i dont know what to get.
im now thinking of
the Philips 825AT
OR
the Toshiba 3109
OR
the Toshiba 1200?
i dont know about the 3109 because its a fourth generation, and the 1200 seems too simple.

Well i have the 2200 and it works great. It is a little pricy at amazon being 349, so if you are on a tight budget, go with the 1200, its got everything except the dual trey pretty much. I would go to like you local store and see if you can demo them...a lot of stores have displays like Good Guys and Circuit City

The 3109 seems rather reliable plus you get the twin trays and a DD decoder. Lot's of people in this forum have this player. There are relatively few threads mentioning problems. The jury is still out on the 1200's reliability. The 1200 is supposed to have better resolution, 540 vs 480 lines (although the HT review site etown.com was only able to test it up to 480 lines. Funny thing too - I always thought 480 lines was the limit of the medium.)
The Phillips hasn't gotten the best of reviews in home theater mags/sites because of it's picture quality( etown.com measured 430 line resolution, failed PLUGE test). The head phone jack doesn't seem like that much of a plus, since you get one w/most receivers. It is supposed to play formatted CD's and it is supposed to be upgradeable.
Just on the basis of picture quality, you're probably better off w/the Toshibas.
You noticing the pro-Toshiba trend in this forum?
(The Pioneer 525 is another worthy choice, but Amazon's price is about a $100 too high, even if you are using GC's.)
