Should I buy the Toshiba 28" widescreen with integrated 5.1 or stick with my 24" Sony and get a receiver instead. Bear in mind that funds are limited to 600 pounds.

Cheers

Depends on what you plan for the future.

If you want flexibility and ease of replacement for component failure or future upgrade, buy a seperate reciever. If you're thinking about upgrading within the next year or so, then you'll definitely want a seperate receiver and television. Seperate components would probably give better performance as well, although I'm not familiar with the models you have in mind.

If you want a simple upgrade, and you are willing to accept the trade off of an all in one package, then go for it.

One question since I am not familiar with the components you have over there.

What are the specs on the Tosh 28 widescreen?

If you can turn off the speakers and route it through a receiver, then you will have the ability to upgrade the sound later. If that is the case, you just may want the BIGGER TV as well as the widescreen (you don't mention if the sony is WS).

Smaller TV + soso receiver may mean you have to upgrade BOTH later...
