Bravo's The Fashion Show
Is anyone going to watch this "Project Runway" knockoff? I'm going to give it a chance.
The Fashion Show premieres on Bravo on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Fifteen professional designers will compete in this fashion creative competition series for a chance to have their designs sold in the retail market and win a $125,000 prize.
Internationally acclaimed designer Isaac Mizrahi shares hosting duties with four-time Grammy Award-winning performer and actress Kelly Rowland. Mizrahi and Rowland will also serve as judges alongside fashion luminary and Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion, Fern Mallis.
Each week the designers will be put to the test and will have to face off in two challenges – the Harper's Bazaar Mini Challenge, judged by the magazine's Special Projects Director Laura Brown, and the elimination challenge. In the end, America will choose which contestant will have a clothing line available for retail and win the $125,000 prize.

I love some of Bravo's reality competition shows (Project Runway, Top Chef, Shear Genius), like others (Top Design), and can't stomach others (Make Me a Supermodel, Step It Up and Dance). This is going to have to be really good to overcome the stigma of being such a blatant Project Runway replacement. I do think it's interesting they added a Quickfire/Shortcut Challenge type event.

Supermodel, if for no other reason than the Nude shoots and dressing room shots. That Mennonite broad is smokin.

Well, I watched it. Not as good as "Runway" but seems entertaining. I don't like that Merlin guy. Very obnoxious person.

Adios Reco, I was pulling for you. Out of the final 3, I guess that I'll root for Anna. JP's designs are pretty bad and I hate Daniella.

A heads-up for anyone still following this show-tonight is the finale. It will be a reunion show with the winner announced at the end.

I really hated Daniella and it pained me to see her walk off with 10k from the judges. At least she didn't take the grand prize.

But there was a lot not to like. I hated the hosts. Kelly didn't add anything to the conversations and Isaac just seemed unlikable... he definitely lacked that special something Tim Gunn brings to the table. And the finale was horrible... it needed a live audience or something. It just felt cold and was uncomfortable to watch at times.

I agree with this. I thought they got some things right... I liked the Quickfire-like mini challenge at the beginning of each episode, and I thought they did a great job picking the contestants.
