I enjoy this. With baseball season underway I've taken it off my DVR (can't record 24 and RofE at the same time while still watching the game). But I hear it's moving to Wednesdays so it'll be put back on. Not a great show but enough laughs there to kill 30 mins. Exactly how I feel about Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory.

I think it's an OK show once you get past the suspension of disbelief you have to posess in order to accept someone that looks like David Spade but without his fame being able to get with the women he does in this show.
Hell, it's hard enough to believe he nailed Heather Lockear in real life, let alone on the show.

Spade's character on the show is apparently very successful, so it's not much of a stretch at all. Nothing brings in the girls like lots of money.
Ditto on the love for the two curvy lead women.
I pretty much enjoy the back and forth between the characters; not so much the flimsy plots. Patrick Warburton's schtick never gets old.

Yeah, I think Spade's character gets all the ladies because of his money. He has a plush NY pad.
I've been raving about this show since it started. All the actors are great IMO though Spade, Patrick, Megyn stand out. Never gets any attention here because it's outside the demographic of the other CBS hit sitcoms.

Yeah, I love this show also. Apart from the Office it's the funniest sitcom currently airing IMO. And it tops that some weeks.

Three seasons? I didn't realize it has been on that long. I only watched it sporadically in the past, but I'm hooked on it now and record it if I can't see it live. I'll have to seek out the older episodes. Warburton always makes me laugh. He always plays the same character, but he's really good at it.
There's a new episode on tonight (Wednesday) at 8/7 Central.

Re: Rules of Engagement
Normal sized women are "full figured" now? That's sad. I don't think either actress is super thin, but they're hardly full figured. It is nice to see some normal women though. I really like the cast as a whole. They seem to be a good fit.

Re: Rules of Engagement
I like this show.
Spade's character is over the top, but most shows have at least one over the top character.
The episode a few weeks ago where the guys have the contest to see which one of them could get sex that night was a great episode. The married guy vs. the engaged guy vs the single guy. I thought that was a good concept, and liked how they ended it when each guy revealed his results.

I've also been a watcher the last 2 seasons. It's the only CBS comedy that I can stomach.
My hope for next year is what CBS did this year. Worst Week for the first half of the season and Rules of Engagement for the 2nd half. Or the other way around. That way they can keep both shows fresh with approx 13 episodes.

Re: Rules of Engagement
Last week's was good, much better than normal. I didn't know why at first, then it hit me: Spade & Warburton were going back and forth playing with the young couple. There's no way this would be on the air without those two. Their characters aren't over the top because the actors sell them. Both the actors that play the young couple ham it up, and the writers aren't helping by giving them mostly one-off gag lines and slapstick situations. At least they're not making them do pratfalls. I feel bad for Warburton's wife, because they almost always give her the last shot in a scene and take far too long to transition or fade to break, so her reactions always seem dragged out.
I think the producers realized much of this, because the addition of Spade's assistant and Orlando Jones as the gay friend have taken the place of the scenes in the young couple's apartment. When they have the B-story, I usually end up deleting the ep without finishing it. It has improved, I hope they don't go back.

Re: Rules of Engagement
Was this canceled because I just saw David Spade got a new sitcom.
David Spade to Star in Workplace Comedy Pilot From 'Neighbors' Producer
The "Rules of Engagement" actor has been cast in the ABC comedy pilot "Bad Management," from "The Neighbors" and "GCB" producer Aaron Kaplan.
The pilot, from ABC Studios and Kapital Entertainment, revolves around a self-centered female boss at a high end luxury goods department store who finds her ways challenged when her boss's son comes to town and makes youth and sex the new company focus.
Spade will play the son, Tobias, Jr.
Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh are writing the project, with Horgan also playing the role of Eve and executive producing along with Kaplan.
In addition to Spade, "The Hangover" actress Rachael Harris has been cast in the role of Linda, one of the department store employees.

Re: Rules of Engagement
We won't know until May. Spade and others on the cast have joined pilots for new shows but those shows are in second position to RoE. Should Rules be picked up for another season, and the pilots they shoot get picked up to series, they would be required to stay on RoE. The other shows would have to recast and reshoot at least part of their pilots. If RoE is cancelled, they would continue with their new shows if picked up.
It does seem like this may be the last season for RoE though.

Re: Rules of Engagement
I think this show has been on the brink of cancellation since the very first season, yet it keeps hanging on.
Since Jeff & Audrey are getting a surrogate baby this season, and Adam & Jen are suppposed to also finally get married, this could certainly serve as closure for a finale.

Re: Rules of Engagement
To bad it's most likely canceled. I was sick in bed for a bunch of days in Feb and watched all the seasons on Netflix. Very funny sitcom compared to most of the shows out today.

Re: Rules of Engagement
So, the show is definitely dead now.
This Monday is the series finale.
I'm going to miss it, I've been watching the reruns in syndication quite a bit lately.

Warburton continues to have Family Guy of course.
The final episode is also their 100th. So that's a good number to go out on.
