American Idol Top 4, May 5/6, Rock and Roll Week
It’s Rock and Roll Week. The contestants will be performing a solo act and, according to rumors, a duet.
The mentor this week is Slash, formerly from Guns ‘N Roses, who wrote on his Twitter account Saturday that he thought that “all of the finalists, especially Lambert, could sing their butts off.”
Performing on Wednesday's show (thanks Lunatikk and nightwing82) are... Daughtry, No Doubt, and Paula Abdul.
In other American Idol News… David Cook’s brother, the one with a brain tumor, has died. Megan Joy has been asked to try out for Stevie Nick’s biopic - this is the one that Lindsey Lohan was rumored to have the part until Stevie said “over my dead body”.
So… who do you think will be going home this week?

Adam and Allison should have a cake walk to the top 3 with this week's theme. But when you drop the ball on what should be "your week" it usually hurts you more than if you were singing outside your element.
Danny, based on the theme, may have a tough time this week. We'll see.

Paula Abdul is performing her new song as well. She was just on Seacrest's radio show, they played the song ("Just Here For The Music"), and she said she will be performing it live on the results show this week. So that should be interesting.
I hope Gokey is sent packing. Oh and Paula said on the radio that the theme is "CLASSIC rock" she made that point about three times. Though who knows what one can consider to be classic, aye?

I'll vote for him if he glams out "Welcome to the Jungle" Bonus points for delivering pelvic thrusts while singing the line "Won't you ride my serpentine!" Though I think he'll play it conservative this week (getting scared by the bottom two result last week) and do some lame ballad.
Remember last year's rock theme? All kinds of things I don't consider "rock" was up for grabs - including R&B, reggae, and synth pop. Classic rock sounds promising though. Hopefully we'll hear something that hasn't been done on the show before. And for god's sake ... no more Bryan Adams!!!

Slash, classic rock, and No Doubt this week?! I am actually excited to have to watch it while the girls take over the room for once.
Josh, do you have rumors for everyone?

I know he's gone, but this is a pretty amazing performance of Let's Get It On by Giraud on Ellen:

I really like him.

I saw him on Ellen yesterday and thought he was fabulous.
Amazing what happens when you take the judges away.
If he was nervous being on Ellen, he didn't show it.

It's more accurate to say he hasn't distanced himself from money.

I don't like Adam and can't stand watching him preform, but that sounded good. He'll be safe tonight, Allison should be safe with the theme too, but who knows.
On second thought, she might be toast.

Big mishap at the "American Idol" rehearsal.
You know the staircase Ryan Seacrest walks down at the beginning of the show? Well it's supposed to retract as he walks but it retracted too soon, badly hurting the stage manager.
Debbie Williams was following Ryan down the stairs when the mishap occurred. She tried holding on but couldn't and fell down the stairs.
Williams suffered what we're told is a "nasty gash" on her leg and was taken to the hospital.
We don't know of any other injuries. But someone who was there says he heard an explosion of glass and there was "debris and glass ...there was panicking and pushing and screaming and Ryan tried to calm people down" as the studio was cleared.
Pretty ironic ... Simon Cowell was on "Ellen" today talking about the staircase that "almost killed Ryan's career this year...."
Story developing...

I think Allison probably saved herself with the Slow Ride duet. Adam is definitely safe especially since Simon was pimping him during everyone else's critique. That leaves Kris who was OK and Danny who strangled a cat. I'd love to see Gokey go home, but I think it will probably be Kris.

Did Kris say he almost peed his pants? I think he may be in trouble tonight. Out of the four left he is the weakest singer.
Thought Allison sounded great.
Thought Adam was once again over the top but for some strange reason I love it. Danny was horrible but I think Simon was right when he said he should still be safe.
