"Save 65% on all five seasons of Babylon 5, the epic sci-fi series often considered one of the greatest and most influential TV shows ever made."
If you haven't seen the show I highly recommend taking this opportunity to get the whole thing at a great price.

That's my problem--when I've had time to watch, I'm still in the first season. But I want to stick with it because of all the positive things I've heard.

Even though its visual effects and sets are far less polished than those of its Star Trek contemporaries, I've always been fonder of B5. The characters are more real and individual; the depiction of human (and alien) nature truer and darker; the writing sad, funny, & tragic; and the grand story arc totally engrossing. It's one of the great achievements of SF on TV.
The Amazon deal is great, if you don't have B5 yet. Just a little less than I've paid over the last year at Amazon (1 & 2) and Best Buy (3-5).

I am so tempted to get this but I just upgraded to a 1080p TV and purchased the complete series of the sopranos...

You can get the Region 2 set from Amazon UK, which also includes all the movies, for about $80.00 shipped.

I recently bought the Region 2 set and it is great. It has the entire seasons, all of the movies, and also the spin-off series Crusade (starring the one and only Gary Cole).

I've tried to watch this, but I can't get past the first few episodes of season 1. I guess it's just not my thing.

It may indeed be "not your thing." But the first few episodes were not especially representative of the series as a whole. For some reason, the first season is very slow to get going on the main series story arc. They were just getting their "sea legs."
Unlike many series, which start out with a bang and then begin a long slow decline, Babylon 5 continues to improve, up through the season four finale at least. Season five was a slight letdown for me, but overall it is the sci-fi series that I am fondest of.

I am compelled to jump into any conversation regarding Babylon 5 since it is my favorite show of all time. I didn't even watch it when it originally aired, I watched it for the first time just a few years ago.
I couldn't recommend any show more than this. I was hooked from the pilot, but don't give up after the first couple of episodes. The creator had the whole 5 year arc written down before he started writing the first episode. It's a truly unique viewing experience because you see things in the the pilot and throughout the series that always come back and are referenced in later seasons. Perfect example: Babylon Squared.
Also, for those of you who do buy it, make sure you follow every episode by reading the Lurker's Guide (http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countries/us/eplist.html). It adds SO much to the viewing experience.
As for this deal. It's definitely less than I paid for the 5 seasons, but the R2 set looks like the way to go if you have that ability, especially if it has the movies and crusade.

I to watch the 1st few eps and couldn't get into it. And the above just kept taking me out of the show. But I know others whom loved the show.

My girlfriend wanted to kill me as I forced her to sit through the first season... Now she's still hooked and we're only down to Crusade. It's worth the ride.

Was tempted, but thanks to those who pointed out that it is far from complete. I'll look into the R2 someday, if a R1 complete set never materializes.

Agreed with what others have said. The 1st Season is a little "rough" to get through. About 1/2 way into the 1st season it does pick up a bit but Seasons 2-4 are same damn good stuff.
I think Boxleitner coming on board really changed the "tone" on the show. I actually preferred Sinclair to Sheridan but Sinclair was a much "dryer" character whereas Sheridan seems to have his emotions front and center.
Solid show all around but yes the 1st Season is a little hard to get through (Farscape is another show that was difficult to get through in the beginning as well but boy did it get good 1/2 - 2/3s of the way through Season 1).
Also when watching B5 you do have to pay attention. It is IMHO not a show you can have on "in the background" while doing other things and you won't miss anything (like a lot of shows around today). You really want to allow 40mins of watching for each episode. Also don't expect to watch an episode here and there and then come back to it weeks and months later and be able to remember everything that happened. It just doesn't work well with this show.

For those who missed out on this deal, Best Buy has had the season sets on sale for $20 each some time in December the last few years. I picked up 1,2 & 3 two years ago and tried to get 4 & 5 last year, but waited too long and could only find 5.
