Easier matchups except for last one.
Mario Kart 64 - gonna be a tough one to beat
Left 4 Dead - its been said before how awesome this game is
Deus X - Not the biggest fan but i do remember having some enjoyment
Tecmo - there isn't much i will vote for over this
Mike Tyson's Punchout - love SFII but this is another it will be hard to vote against in any round.

I am surprised there isn't more love for SF II. I assumed most of the SF IV sales were due to peoples love of II.

Seriously, Mario Kart over the masterpiece that is Shadow the Colossus? The game that many developers and even film directors have referred to as the shining example of the video game as art?

Star Control II against Deus Ex!? This is impossible, but I have to give it to SCII.
SFII over Punch-Out for me.
Others either I haven't played or don't have enough information. Can I justifiably vote for Colossus over Mario Kart if I haven't even played it?

I think it has alot to do with replayability and the overall entertainment factor. I personally played Kart for about a year in college, played through Colossus twice in a two week span.

My pics bolded
Super Mario Kart 64 (N64)
vs.
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Though choice, not because I think both are awesome, but because, to me, they're just above average. I went with SotC just because I don't care too much for Kart racers.
Jet Grind Radio (Dreamcast)
vs.
Left 4 Dead (Multi)
Both great games, but a solid single-player experience will get my vote over a multi-player-only game every fucking time. That, and just seeing the words "Jet Grind" makes me want to play it again RIGHT NOW.
Deus Ex (PC)
vs.
Star Control II (PC)
Deus Ex is a fucking classic, and I'm not surprised that it's depth and scope still hasn't been trumped.
Forza 2 (360)
vs.
Tecmo Bowl (NES)
I spent countless hours with Tecmo Bowl. Froza is annoying as shit.
Mike Tyson's Punchout (NES)
vs.
Street Fighter II Turbo (Multi)
I actually prefer super punchout and the original arcade punchout to the NES version. But even in those cases, SF2turbo is just one of those games that changed everything, and one I've spent countless hours playing, and would still play today.

Sorry for the slight derail, but I have to correct this. While games can be artful and contain art in them, they cannot be art in and of themselves. Just like how chess pieces can be art, or how a person can artfully play a game of chess, but the game of chess itself is not art.

I would say an instance of a game of chess isn't art, but the overall game of chess itself is.
Are novels art? Movies? Music? Stories? How can one form of expression be and not another?
Game designers have the opportunity express themselves through their work just like anyone else. The fact that this work can be experienced and cherished by others makes it art.

Yeah, what the 2 posters above me said.
I'll pass on getting into a debate about the definition of "art" here.

No, it certainly does not. My hamburgers can be experienced and cherished by others, but that does not make my hamburgers art. Again, without derailing too much (I'm super sorry) but true art (including what's at MOMA) is far more focused and precise than a videogame can ever be. Also, I think a lot of people tend to confuse "good" with "art" - just because a game is good and looks nice, doesn't make it art.
