Chiefs -TV mini-series (1983)
Anyone know if this mini-series will be getting a proper release UNCUT?
Noticed Germany has released this back in 2005 as a 4-Disc release in 4:3, but the image should be apallingly bad. The price for the set is mere $7.00, though.

I'm glad someone else out there wants this too. I looked at TV Shows on DVD and it states the rights holder as unknown, but I recall it airing on CBS. Given that and its history of being edited in previous video releases, I'm afraid any possible distributor might see this as more trouble than its worth to attempt a release. I hope I'm wrong though, it's a great mini series that deserves a proper release.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of CHIEFS. I've been on a mini crusade to see it's release in a proper, complete DVD format.
About a year ago, I contacted Anchor Bay (I forget why, they must've released an edited version of the miniseries at one point in time), but they no longer had rights.
I also contacted the director/producer Jerry London and he has no clue of its status.
This year, I sent an email to Paramount (which released London's SHOGUN on DVD) to ask if they have the ability to release it onto DVD. No word.
Amazon and the TCM website both have ways you can indicate you'd like certain movies to be released on DVD. So I, of course, selected CHIEFS.
I emailed Criterion (using their wishlist email address) to request its DVD release. I know they don't do TV movies, but what the heck.
Finally, I hand wrote a letter to Turner Broadcasting Company. Last time I saw CHIEFS (a long time ago) was on TBS. Turner is from Georgia, where the production is set (though filmed in SC). I tried to appeal to their southern sensibilities in a last ditch effort for somebody to release this movie in a well deserved DVD format.
That is probably the last thing I'll do...aside from just wishing.
