Ten Favorite Films with One-Word Titles
List your ten favorite films with one-word titles
Here are the rules:
No initials or acronyms (E.T., M*A*S*H, Z.P.G.)
No single-letter film titles (M, Z)
No hyphens (BEN-HUR, G-MEN)
No articles: if there’s an “An” or a “The” or an "El" it’s not one word
No words followed by numbers or numerals (STALAG 17, SAW II)
No shortened versions of longer titles, e.g. GODZILLA (1956) is actually GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS, although the 1998 GODZILLA is fair game.
Foreign titles are okay (GOJIRA, the original Japanese title for GODZILLA)
Punctuation is okay, like exclamation points (HELP!) or ellipses (IF…)
Here’s my list (in alphabetical order):
AKIRA (1988)
ATTACK! (1956)
BAMBI (1942)
CASABLANCA (1943)
GOJIRA (1954)
GOODFELLAS (1990)
PSYCHO (1960)
SCARFACE (1932)
THEM! (1954)
YOJIMBO (1961)
This was a tough list to compile. I had to take out the following to keep it down to ten:
BANANAS (1971)
FANTASIA (1940)
PINOCCHIO (1940)
SERPICO (1973)
SHAFT (1971)
SPARTACUS (1960)

In no particular order:
Jaws
Halloween
Airplane!
Superman
Alien
Aliens
Hoosiers
Outbreak
Se7en
Zodiac
Thought it might be tough coming up with 10 based on your guidelines. Instead, I had to eliminate several.

I say GoodFellas shouldn't count, since the official spelling has a capital "F", not a lowercase one...much like the James Bond movie GoldenEye. Same deal with RocknRolla.

Re: Ten Favorite Films with One-Word Titles
Cool thread idea. This was actually quite hard to narrow down. No particular order...
Rebecca
Rope
Psycho
Suspiria
Opera
Zodiac
Alien
Halloween
Scream
Clerks
Honorable mentions:
Vertigo
Spellbound
(probably a lot more Hitchcock once I get further through his catalog!)
Aliens
Batman
Blade
Cloverfield
Tenebre
Phenomena
Dracula
Frankenstein
Ghostbusters
Hatchet
Hellraiser
Hostel
Nosferatu
Oldboy
Saw
Se7en
Heck...I could probably get a good list with just Hitchcock (that I've seen) and Argento! Once I get through the rest of Hitchcock's movies, I bet I'll be able to get 10 favorites just from him!

Re: Ten Favorite Films with One-Word Titles
I'm going to go the "10 That Haven't Been Mentioned Yet" route too, since I feel like the top 10 I'd do would be a regurgitation of a lot of mentioned films on here:
Thief
Manhunter
Sideways
Adaptation
subUrbia
Videodrome
Rollerball (1975)
Watchmen
Darkman
Birdy

Re: Ten Favorite Films with One-Word Titles
And there are still another 7 "one word title" films in his oeuvre.
