I am fan of Cormac McCarthy and woudl like to know if anyone has suggestions for similar authors.
Granted I could use the Amazon feature for this, but I'd rather ask the community at large.
Thanks in advance!

I really enjoy James Carlos Blake (http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=James%20Carlos%20Blake&page=1), whom you might call similar. Got a kick out of "Handsome Harry," although his earlier stuff seems to have more of a McCarthy vibe...

Love McCarthy: the grittier, the better (Blood Meridian is probably my favorite).
So, along those lines, Proulx writes some pretty harsh stuff (though I really think McCarthy is about as good as it gets). Check out some of her Wyoming short stories.

I always get Hemmingway vibes when I read McCarthy.

Yeah, considering classics, I get Faulkner vibes from McCarthy. I imagine you are familiar with those authors already...
