The Proposal (Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds)

Has anyone see the trailer for Sandra Bullock's movie, The Proposal. I watched the trailer and just couldn't stop laughing. Betty White is so hilarious. I wouldn't normally see her taking a role like this, but I love it! She kind of reminds me of the old lady in Adam Sandler's The Wedding Singer. I think this is also a great role for Ryan Reynolds. He is funny and it will be nice to see him in this awkward "assistant" role.

If you didn't have over 700 posts, I'd swear you were being paid by the studio to post that.

I thought the exact same thing. I saw the trailer and it looked like two slices of shit squeezed to together and sprinkled over a turd.

Please tell me she doesn't play Reynolds' love interest. She's 12 years older than him in real life. I think she also plays Bradley Cooper's love interest in "All About Steve", also out this year. And she's 11 years older than him.

Well she plays his boss and is Canadian and about to get deported so she arranges a marriage with her assistant Ryan Reynolds. Hilarity ensues

See, I could have told you that without watching the trailer. Glad to see Bullock is still trying to outduel Kate Hudson for Queen of the Crappy Rom-Coms. At least Ryan Reynolds is a (marginal) cut above Dane Cook or Matthew McConaughey.

VERY marginal. If you ask me, all three are tied.

Wow really? I guess I judge a movie and actors based on if I feel entertained while I am watching the film. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds always hold my attention. I was even laughing out loud during the trailer. I agree it might be a bit predictable, but movies like this are just for fun and laughs. I think Betty White will add to the craziness too!

Re: The Proposal (Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds)

Ryan Reynolds has proven himself as a versatile actor. Dane Cook and Matthew McConaughey are just untalented hacks who only make a buck when studios need a romantic comedy.

Sorry, Cook's bizarre turn in Mr. Brooks was terrible.

Where has Reynolds proven himself to be a versatile actor?

I thought he was quite good in Definitely, Maybe - didn't come across to me as what one may call a "typical" role of his.

Well, he wasn't a pompous jackass in Adventureland. I just saw him in that. He kicked ass in Blade Trinity. Looks like he'll be kicking more ass in Wolverine.

I just don't put him in the same field as Dane Cook and that other moron.

....Sandra Bullock has never been good. Not even in the "hailed" Crash, which is also a pretentious turd, was she any good. She's predictable as hell. Reynolds though has kinda grown as an actor in a way. I mean he was Van Wilder...he's gotten better than that. Bullock is still locked where she wants.

I guess if you're entertained by her than you find something that we can't and/or won't...

...You should check out some of the posters 700 posts. I'm too lazy to nail down which studio they're affiliated with though.

That kind of stuff happens in RL though. And not too many people seem to mind when Richard Gere is hooking up with Winona Ryder, or any number of other old dude/young chick combos.

Wow, I can't even believe I have over 700 posts. I didn't even realize it. I have been a member since 2006 and I do love me some movies and television. This is actually one of my favorite message boards, so I am usually active in a couple threads at a time.

Great point Jray! You are extremely right. This scenario is probably happening more than recognize. A list of quick couples I can think of are...

Demi Moore/Ashton Kutcher (15 yrs)
Bruce Willis/ Emma Heming (24 yrs!)
Harrison Ford/Calista Flockhart (22 yrs!)
Catherine Zeta Jones/ Michael Douglas (25 yrs!)

But enough of that. I think the boss/assistant duo is a bit of a stretch, but I am sure once I see the movie it will make more sense as to why Ryan Reynolds has that job. It will be entertaining regardless.

Re: The Proposal (Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds)

I thought the movie looked like typical romcom fare, just this time it's with Bullock and Reynolds. I find 1.5 hrs worth of enjoyment from both of them, and my girlfriend enjoys the break from the weirdo movies we usually see, so I'm sure I'll rent it at some point.
