I realize that others have asked DTS questions recently (including me), but I need to make absolutely sure before I purchase any DTS DVDs. Thanks! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have a Toshiba SD-2109. It says DTS on the front. Hence, it's capable of playing DTS DVDs, correct?

I only have a two-speaker system right now (incapable of 5.1 decoding--only surround without a center channel). What do I need to hear DTS sound? The SD-2109 does not have built-in 5.1 decoding so I definitely need a receiver capable of that. However (and this is where I'm really confused), will a 5.1 receiver be capable of decoding DTS?

Help! Thanks! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

Just look for the DTS symbol on the front of the reciever. Most will also have D Digital as well.

Below the DTS symbol on the front of your player it will probably say DTS Digital Out... the 2109 has DTS and DOlby Digital pass through, meaning that you will need a DTS/DD decoder built into a receiver to hear DTS sound.... The player can read the DD and DTS data off the disc and pass them onto another device, but not decode them for amplification...
