Screenings/Events You've Attended
Not sure about others on here, but I'm a big fan of going to as many retro/grindhouse/revival screenings I find out about that I can. I thought we could have a thread dedicated to people letting us know about cool events in their area and what they thought. I'll begin:
Last night went to the Aero Theater in Santa Monica for a 25th Anniversary screening of The Last Starfighter. The print didn't look amazing, but the main draw was the cast/crew reunion. About 20 people showed up in total, including director Nick Castle and star Catherine Mary Stewart. A 30-40 min q&a followed the film.
Tonight there's a midnight screening of Darkman at the New Beverly I might head up to.
So, what's everyone else been up to?

No one else is doing anything rad?
Sunday, I went to a 25th anniversary screening of A Nightmare on Elm St. and Wes Craven was on hand to do live commentary, with Mick Garris (poorly) moderating.

Last memorable theater visit was at a local drafthouse theater while watching Burn After Reading. Oddly, that movie is fairly confusing while drunk (I had seen it priorly and it made sense, add booze, I was lost on the second viewing haha).
Our city occasionally does stuff, they did Poltergeist on the beach one Friday the 13th, for instance, but I always seem to miss the events.

i wish cool stuff like this went on around here. the closest thing i have in comparison is around christmas time a local arthouse theatre played A CHRISTMAS STORY and scott schwartz did a Q and A afterwords. i didn't end up going though. i would've asked him when we could expect KIDCO on dvd.

Your thread title is so vague that it isn't going to draw the response you want. Maybe e-mail a mod and ask for a title change that reflects what the thread is about.
On topic, I'll be going to a charity screening of "Serenity" that's coming up in a couple of months.
Oh, and do people still use the word "rad"?

I've only been to one of these type screenings. In 2001 a local revival house had an Area 1951 film festival. 50th anniversary of sci-fi films from 1951. We went to the The Thing. Forrey Ackerman and Robert Cornthwaite were there.

This was last year, but I went to a screening of the immortal Troll 2 with the cast present, and chatted briefly with the actor who played the little boy while waiting in line. It was somewhat surreal mocking an actor's performance while that very actor sits one row in front of you. Someone was filming the whole thing for a Troll 2 documentary that I believe is coming out soon. I even won a Troll 2 t-shirt!

You should. Ask him when WB is going to release The Devils! It's been ages since I've seen it, but I remember Crimes of Passion having some, er, strenuous sex scenes.

I attended Monstermania Con in New Jersey a few weeks ago and met Lance Henrikson, What a nice, down to earth guy.
I will be going to Chiller Con in two weeks which has a pretty impressive guest list so far.

I try to attend as many horror cons in the northeast as I can. What my budget allows

I used to go to a lot of these, not so much anymore... A few that came to mind with a discussion after -
Planet of the Apes..many times, one time w/Heston
Soylent Green w/ Heston
Last Temptation of Christ w/ Defoe
Heaven & Earth w/Oliver Stone
The infamous Blade Runner workprint "surprise" screening
To Live & Die in LA w/ Friedkin
The Professional w/ Luc Besson (before it premiered.. an AFI screeing)
Forget Paris w/Billy Crystal
Shawshank Redemption w/ Frank D
Buck Rogers w/ Erin Grey & Larson
Battlestar Galactica w/ cast & Larson
many others I can't remember right now...

Re: Screenings/Events You've Attended
Since I live in Iowa, the only cool stuff like this would be when I'm visiting somewhere else. Mainly the San Diego Comic Con.
In 2007 I got to attend the screening of the just released on DVD "Monster Squad" (one of my all time favorites!) preceeded by a Q&A with the cast/director and followed by an awesome meet up with everyone.
In 2008 it was the advance screening of Pineapple Express and I got to chat with Danny McBride quick afterwards. Who was awesome!
That's about it though...

Another bizzare screening I attended was the Xena Warrior Princess Final episode screening at Museum of Television & radio, (it was before it aired), the cast & producers were there, the audience booed and screamed in anger, they were so outraged at the ending, making disparaging comments throught the discussion, I felt terrible for all those involved... I loved the finale...
