What exactly is a dark tube? I've read posts saying to get a dark tube but can't seem to find info on what exactly a dark tube is. Is it referred to by some other name by other companies or something?

in response to what a dark tube is it allows the tv to absorb outside light into the television to enhance the contrast, color, sharpness etc.

Keep in mind that a 32" Sony Trinitron is
only $500 street (I see ads every week).

The MSRP is $800 and places like Circuit City etc have it listed for $700. Where exactly have you seen it for $500? This would be a great deal and I'd be all over it

Local electronics stores, as well as larger
stores such as The Wiz.

Each time I've seen it at these prices, it
was during a sale, so if you're not in an
immediate rush, that's the tube I'd seek
out when the next sale hits.

I definitely follow the price of this TV,
as I paid $1,000 for it 3 years ago, when
a 32" TV was a bigger deal than today.

Now with RPTVs getting better, and HDTV,
these are more of a commodity item.

(Now, I'd go for the 35" model, which I've
seen for only $700-800 BTW in the same ads.)

If you're looking at a 27" to save a few
bucks, you'll regret it later. A 32" TV has
a lot more screen area, especially with
widescreen movies. Make the $100 bump if
you can, it will pay off every time you
watch a movie, or a show.

Hope this helps.

oh trust me, for anyone who is looking at tvs that don't have to fit into a certain area go with a 32" television. Like a WEGA( Pronouced Vega german accent).

Unfortunately, I have to buy a tv that needs to fit into a prexisting cabinet and pay off bills and hopefully purchase a engagement ring (most important). If there are any online coupons please let me know.

thejammy, Wow could you imagine the setup you could buy with all that money you've been saving for that Ring? And you wouldn't even have to bother having her around to complain about the "guy" movies.

Try Sound City. Call their 800 number and ask for Joe (Ext. 708). In my experience, Sound City has exceptionally good prices on Sony products. I would call since the prices on the Sound City website tend to be higher than otherwise may be available.

God luck.
