Does this happen with all the DVDs you have that have layer changes or only certain ones?

Hmm, I've heard that phillips is mostly crap when it comes to dvd players, you might want to see if you can get a firmware upgrade. Or if you have time, go return it for a different player.
A good cheap player would be the Apex at Circuit City, which is supposedly the king of layer changes for around 179, or get a brand name one (Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic, etc..) for a little bit more, a Pioneer 525 can be had for under 250 at most stores now.

I had a PM 815 and it was horrible.. i had the same problems. i sold it and got a Toshiba 2109. it still has a noticable pause.. but the wierd thing is that is a split second later than it was on the PM 815. i dunno.
i had an idea... would it be possible to have a buffer put into a DVD player so that the info is stored in the memory and when the layer change comes it just reads from the buffer?? problem solved in my mind.. but i'm not a technical person...

Let me introduce you properly. This is Enrique. He likes to be called Chim-Chim, but we don't always get what we like... do we?
