I recently bought this TV for my parents and Sony gives you a "HDTV" kit with the TV.
It basically consists of a set of component video cables and a huge Movie book. So I asume that HDTV boxes will have component video out.
The Wega's can apparently handle ~1000 lines of resolution. Should be nice.

Let's not get confused here... Are we talking about the 34" widescreen HDTV Wega that costs about $7K or the standard NTSC 4:3 version?
I assume we are talking about the standard Wega...
The answer is 'yes' you will most likely be able to -downconvert- an HD signal to "480 line NTSC" for viewing on this TV. As a matter of fact, it is probably a safe assumption to state that EVERYONE will be able to do this in the future. Whether or not you want to downgrade the HD signal or buy a real HDTV is up to you.
Tricky76: If this is the non-HD Wega you are talking about I think you have been fooled by marketing .. The TV is limited by the NTSC standard and will never be able to show all "1000" lines.

You are probably right.

Sony has new HDTV ready 4.3 WEGA's on their way later this year. If you have just bought one I would say the salesman probably did not lie to you but did not know what he was talking about!
Heres a link to some stuff about the new ones
HDTV wega's
