The packaging is mediocre for the BDs, but nothing terrible. It opens up like a book, has foam knobs for where the discs go, and the white plastic covers are a chore to get on and off.

Does the blu-rays have the same extras as the SD ultimate collector's set? Man, I paid 200 dollars for all 4 collections when they came out.

Along the same line as that...anyone who has had the standard and upgraded to blu ray versions...is the difference in video/sound quality significant enough that I should take the dive into the blu ray versions as opposed to getting the complete set in one shot?

Yes!

The Blu-rays look and sound fantastic. A ton of work (and $) went into making these great. Thunderball is easily in one of the top 10 catalog release in terms of PQ/AQ of films older then 30 years old.

I'm glad I missed this.

I consider myself a Bond fan, but catch them on TV so often that I have never watched my original complete collection of the Bond DVDs, let alone the re-releases from a couple years ago, and the first batch of blus. So yeah, I own like 40 unwatched Bond discs. Pathetic.

I saw the entire dvd bond collection for $75 on ebay new, some deals on Bond collection right now because of the new releases.

If you haven't gotten them on DVD by now, any investment on them would be a waste of money. Seriously when you see how awesome the Blu-rays look, if you're a Bond fan you will be buying them on Blu-ray at some point down the line regardless.

Since I got in on the Dr. No, FRWL, and Thunderball Amazon deal for about $6.70 delivered do I care about filling out my collection with a bunch of so-so Bond films in hi-def and do I care whether so-so films are in hi-def? No, not much. Sure I'll pick them up down the line when they are dirt cheap. Meanwhile, SD is fine and I Netflixed Goldfinger in Blu-Ray so ... I'm good for now. I can be patient.
