Rockstar Announces Max Payne 3

Finally! I was wondering if this'd ever happen. Now if only they'd release Alan Wake sometime this century.

Rockstar Announces Max Payne 3
New York cop returns this winter.
by Orlando Parfitt, IGN UK
UK, March 23, 2009 - Rockstar has announced that Max Payne 3 is currently in development and will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this winter. Rockstar Vancouver is developing the game, which will tell the story of a retired police detective embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence.

Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, said: "We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game." He continued: "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

The last in the series, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, was released back in 2003.

This winter

Max Payne 1 and 2 are two of my favorite games ever. It's weird seeing him with a beard and not that constipated look on his face.

I'm definitely going to get this, as long as the reviews are positive when it comes out. I played through the first one on the PC and loved every second of it.

I love Max Payne. I'd be all over a new story.

By the way, this is done by the group at Rockstar Vancouver that also did Bully, so it's nice to know they have a solid group working on it.

Same, I've played through both a few times each. I'll probably run through them again to refresh my memory. I could do without "dream" levels in the new one, though.

He only had the constipated look in the first game...

Since Remedy has nothing to do with this, I'm somewhat skeptical. Hopefully it'll turn out well.

Re: Rockstar Announces Max Payne 3

It's no surprise Remedy is not involved. They had announced the fact that they would not make the third game around the time the second was released. Weid given how the end credits of the second game announce that there'd be a third.

I find it weird that he's gonna be bald (look at where the beard cuts off) in this one. I'm comfortable with the beard, though.

I never played Bully but I've heard great things about it.

This may be the first Max Payne I don't get on PC since I think it should look great on console.

Re: Rockstar Announces Max Payne 3

Interesting. I really liked playing the first two, save for those fucking blood/vein/balancing levels that really fucking pissed me off.

Re: Rockstar Announces Max Payne 3

I was excited to hear a new Max Payne was coming...until I saw that article yesterday. Max Payne is supposed to be a dark and gritty comic/noir based game in NYC. They turned it into Far Cry 2 with bullet time!
