Also Spy Game, American Werewolf, Seabiscuit & Inside Man.

Yep - don't expect any "new" catalog releases from Universal for some time. They want to release a good 40-50% or so of their HD DVD exclusives first. Of course, we already got 2 "new" films like 8 Mile and Street Fighter. Why they skipped on Howard the Duck still amazes me. Love to know what happened to all the titles the had planned for HD DVD but pulled (both catalog and D&Ds).

I can just feel it- the one Universal HD DVD title I still want on BD is going to be the last one they release. Come on, Universal, where's Eternal Sunshine?!

Meanwhile, can we really call Children of Men a "catalog" title yet?

I'm still holding on to Lost in Translation, Carlito's Way & Out of Sight HD-DVDs and hoping Universal would release them soon on Blu ray.

It's coming. Jim Carrey 3 pack is likely (Bruce Almighty/Grinch, Liar Liar, Eternal Sunshine). They may replace Bruce for Grinch so they could bundle Bruce and Evan Almighty together. Just find the next big Carrey movie hitting Theaters or BD and you will see the date (Looks like they passed on timing it with Yes, Man from Warner). My guess would be around December so they could push Grinch more and include Liar Liar & Eternal as well. The Sandler 3 pack arrives in July or November.

Anything that's been on DVD/HD/BD for 6 months can be considered a catalog title. It's not a "fresh" title.

Lost in Translation is likely this year if the studios bring more Murray classic to BD. Universal has the rights to Broken Flowers, and we have Ghostbusters I and II (Sony), Kingpin (Fox?) & Caddyshack (Warner) this year. I heard talk of Stripes (Sony?) and Littleshop of Horrors (Warner) as well...but talk is talk. It changes way too often. Maybe if Criterion decides to release some Wes Anderson films we could see it.

Seriously?! I could see a three-pack of maybe Eternal Sunshine, Truman Show and Man On the Moon, but Eternal Sunshine with two of those three? I hope they understand how radically different the audiences probably are! Are there really enough straight-up Jim Carrey fans out there who would be interested in all of these?

Please, please, please tell me they'll be available individually, too!

I'm definitely replacing Children of Men. Hoping for favorable reviews on Field Of Dreams. I have the UK import BD of Cinderella Man so it will have to be a PQ upgrade form that.

Truman Show is not a Uni title.

At least they didn't put the Grinch in there!

All of Uni's 3-pack title have been indivudually released as well to the best of my knowledge. I already have the Japanese BD of Eternal Sunshine so I doubt that will be a purchase for me as the import was shown to look a bit better than the HD DVD.

Truman Show is Paramount. Man on the Moon is Universal...but they would mean they would have to release a "new" BD Catalog title...so not too sure if that is going to happen (it was rumored a long time ago...so maybe?). But yeah, I see how they are all different types of films, but it really does not matter. They would rather group a similar actor together then make the bundles make sense. It's all about tie-ins. They will be available individually. Trilogies (Bourne, F&D, BTTF) will not be. They would rather people buy all 3 at once because typically the sequels suck.

Bourne and Fast and Furious are only available in a boxset. Most studios are doing this trend for Trilogies (or series of films) (Matrix, Oceans, Spider-Man, Star Trek, Batman and likely the upcoming Indy, BTTF). Individuals will arrive eventually.

That makes sense. I wasn't thinking Bourne due to it being an actual set of films you'd think someone would release together.

HDRoom added Inside Man and Seabiscuit, but not the others yet.

They will. As I said before, Universal has these all ready (some pressed/packaged - got 8 Mile the other day from them) its just a matter of when they want to release them. They don't want to overload people as they do want these to actually sell. Some may get pushed into the first week of June.

I already own Children of Men, Inside Man and Cinderella Man so I don't think I'll be upgrading but I never got around to picking up Field of Dreams, I might pick that up depending on reviews.

hurm, while they're at it why don't they release Meteor Man and Mystery Men while they're at it? I know Meteor Man is MGM, just go with it.

Re: Universal Catalog Trio on 5/26/09

Field of Dreams looked like crap on HD DVD and I expect the BD to be the same since its not being cleaned up in anyway (higher bitrate, same VC1).

I already have CoM on HD too, but being my favorite film of this decade, I think I'll spring for the BD just 'cause.

Does anyone have anything nice to say about this? I have the original 2 disc dvd of Cinderella Man, but might go ahead and get the Bluray, such a great movie.

Re: Universal Catalog Trio on 5/26/09

What a day for announcements! I was prepared for U to hold Inside Man for the potential sequel next yr, happy to see it now. Surprised they aren't releasing the other Row Howard films w Cinderella Man (Apollo 13, Backdraft) or Frost/Nixon for that matter. Hopefully those come 3rd or 4th qtr...

Oh for fuck sake. This thread is like winning the lotto. Which I haven't done yet and most likely never will. I'm going to have to get a second job to support my BD habit. Or sell blood. Or turn tricks. Anyway, "Shaun" and "Fuzz" are on my 10 most wanted list. I too own the UK BD of "Cinderella Man". Which has a terrific PQ. Someone mentioned they'd get the U.S. release if the picture is better. Wouldn't it be the same? A favorite of mine, so I'll double dip if so.
