Never thought I'd see the day when Stringer Bell joined The Office.

Yeah, it's good to see that Russell Bell has finally been successful in going "legit". Or at least as legit as you get at Dunder Mifflin.

WOW! What an intense episode!

Regardless of Michael even following through with it. Great episode. It's hard to believe that Jim is looking almost as bad as Michael in front of the new VP if that is even possible.

I have one question though. I thought that Jan named Jim the #2 when the branches merged in season 3. So i take it after Jan, then Ryan, Dave, and now Charles. That position must of just dissolved itself. Which is fine but pretty crappy with no upper management saying a word to Jim.

I do recall Dwight saying something like it doesn't come with a pay raise and Jim responds yes it does during that meeting in Michael's office during season 3. So i take it even though there's now no assistant manager postion, Jim still have that raise. Still a crappy way to find out.

great episode, cracked up with all the stuff with Jim. Loved when Jim had too tell him about the 2 way petting zoo. Felt so bad for Jim, loved seeing Pam laughing at him. Dont think anything really is going to happen to Micheal.

Good episode

The stuff with Jim was funny and so were the scenes with Michael and Charles.

This was a harsh reality check, but I dug it.

Interested to see where this is going...

I love Jim, but I also like when they make him look like a jackass for some of the stuff he does.

Pretty much every week the topic of The Office being unrealistic comes up, but Michael went SO FAR beyond realistic in this episode. I don't even know what you'd call it.

Re: The Office -- "New Boss" -- 03/19/09

As ridiculous as Michael is, and as childish and immature as he's been (and proved to be again tonight)... this company still has to realize that he's among their best salespeople. His branch has consistently proven to be the strongest and the number of times he's singlehandedly saved the company when put back into a sales role is amazing (Hammermill, the Client, etc). I don't blame him for quitting. I think they'll let this play out through the season finale and see how quickly things at the company apart without him there.

And as far as Jim. Yikes. That line about the fake job still stings. But I was pretty sure they offered him that position as a real position as part of the merger with Stamford.

Was there any end part after all the previews for the other shows? DVR cutoff.

Re: The Office -- "New Boss" -- 03/19/09

I would like it if they took the story line into something more along the lines of what we saw in season two of the UK series, with Michael on the verge of being fired. He's gotten away with far too much for far too long.

And we all know that in reality sometimes the better employee gets tagged for downsizing by the regional boss when the loser stays on, so I like that aspect of it as well, though it doesn't look like good news for Jim.

Re: The Office -- "New Boss" -- 03/19/09

I'd like to see this show sort of try something off the wall...like Michael actually leaving or Jim getting fired.

There just isn't much conflict on this show. They did things in the past...Jim and Pam, Jim and Roy, the whole Ryan thing, the Michael and Jan drama, etc, but lately there has been nothing. There was the whole Dwight/Andy/Angela thing, but frankly I thought that whole thing was kind of stupid and Dwight and Angela came off so shady and unlikable that they kind of ruined the gag for me. And now that storyline has been completely dropped, which again, is totally unrealistic. I seriously doubt that Andy would be able to just move on and work with his former fiance and the man that broke up his engagement.

In any event...some of you have said that it's good that the writers haven't done the typical sitcom stuff like Friends when it comes to Jim and Pam--fights, breakups, affairs, or whatever. In some ways it's good that they're trying to be different, but in trying to be different, they've taken all the drama and interesting stuff away. Everything is always just too perfect.

I'd love to see The Office go off in a different direction and give it some flair. It just seems to be treading water. We'll see what happens.

So, what was the last scene before the credits? I missed it.

Michael's actions were reaslistic for the character Michael

and if anyone has been in an office situation like the one depicted on tonight's epi (C bagel coming into the office from the outside) you would know how incredibly realistic the episode was and how uncomfortable it was to watch because it was so true

Yeah, Michael's done far worse. His actions in this one weren't THAT bad, although the repeating lines bit had me rolling my eyes. Michael quitting shocked me, but hopefully they don't go the predictable route with the branch doing terrible with Charles around and no Michael.

Loved the stuff with Jim. Brutal.

Michael had some good points though.
