Part of the movie was filmed near my area. Definitely checking it out.
Got to see the trailer and I'm sold. This looks like possibly the Little Miss Sunshine/Juno of this year except better. To re-iterate, definitely checking it out.

Definitely going to see this one. Big fan of Krasinski and I've always enjoyed Rudolph's work and Mendes always does a good job on his films.

And that was after they ran the trailer for Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Talk about chick flick hell...

Yep.
I'd label 'American Beauty' as a trite film filled with cardboard, stereotype characters. A film that failed to deliver on almost every level in spite of some good performances. What a disaster that film was.
'Road To Perdition' was excellent.

Variety review:
"Away We Go" reps a digression into loose, anecdotal Amerindie-style terrain after helmer Sam Mendes' starrier, more high-stakes screen projects. But this episodic dramedy -- starring tube familiars John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph as a rudderless couple seeking a place to call home while on the brink of parenthood -- emerges as an oddly sour, unappealing road-trip scenario.

American Beauty is one of the best movies ever made. How can you think it sucks but think Perdition is excellent? They are almost the same friggin' movie!

One is a very funny dark comedy, the other is a very dry crime saga. Yup, exactly the same.
American Beauty does have a lot of flaws (it was a bit uneven, moving a little too roughly between "modes"), but it really is an entertaining flick. The ad campaign, however, was terrible.
This review for Away We Go seems pretty spot-on for him in general:

They both have the same meaning at the center. Both have main characters die at the end. Both have nearly the same score. Cinematography is the same, etc...
