NBC's The Chopping Block
Anyone see this on Wednesday?
I didn't think it was that great.
I'll stick with Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen on Fox.
Great going for NBC to cut Knight Rider short season for this.
According to this article:

The Chopping Block has a 1.5/4 rating.
At least Knight Rider had more viewers.

Didn't watch, but heard this guy actually trained Gordon Ramsay. Judging by the ratings, I think this turkey is already on the chopping block.
I'm still pissed that they shafted Knight Rider by 5 episodes to put this shit on the air.

Re: NBC's The Chopping Block
When I first read the description, I thought it was going to be the American version of Last Restaurant Standing http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/302/. But then there are only two restaurants instead of each team having their own.
It didn't really stand out out, but I'm a sucker for cooking competitions so I'll keep watching. And how about those 'Fringe-esque' titles? Although it's probably not fair to give the nod to Fringe on that. I'm sure other shows and films have done it too. Oh, the opening title sequence of GTA IV used that style.

I am a NBC fan but this show looked lame.
The world needs another cooking reality show after Top Chef and Hells Kitchen?

Big fan of Top Chef and HK- but this was unwatchable. And I'm not sure exactly why- but yes, it looked lame. Visually, it is an unappealing show.

I actually came into this thread thinking it was going to be about all the shows NBC was going to cancel for the upcoming season.
Wasn't aware this was an actual show.

Re: NBC's The Chopping Block
Seriously, I'm so sick and tired of NBC using that as the promotional line in every commercial I've seen. It's pretty pathetic that the picture of a young Gordon Ramsey crying in his autobiography is his claim to fame. He's probably just pissed he'll never be half the businessman that Gordon is.

^That's exactly what it is. Ramsay is more successful than he is on all counts. He's just trying to live off his popularity.

Re: NBC's The Chopping Block
Is this anything like Food Network's "Chopped" which pits four chefs against each other in three rounds (each round a chef gets "chopped"). The rounds are appetizer, main course and dessert, and each round they are given four or five ingredients that they must incorporate into their dish. Generally there is one or two in ingredients that is totally off the wall compared to the others which is what makes the challenge hard. Winner takes home ten grand.
I have to admit I like Food Network's "Chopped" and when I heard the name of this show, that's immediately what I thought of.

I didn't think it was as horrible as most here, but it did look like Marco spent about an hour making the first episode. If you take out his talking head segments, he was barely present. I do like not having a narrator. For instance, I think that's the biggest downside of the US version of Kitchen Nightmares vs the UK version - Ramsay himself doesn't do all the voice-overs like he does in the UK.

Yes, the world needs more reality cooking shows.
After all, what could be more important and dramatic than to watch a loud-mouthed chef attack an innocent head of lettuce?

So this weeks episode put NBC last place in ratings for 8:00, even behind The CW and Top Model. Yup. Way to go NBC for cutting Knight Rider's episodes down.

Re: NBC's The Chopping Block
Yeah, Knight Rider really is a fucking joke. Much more so than this admittedly shitty show. I agree that last night's was a bit better than the premiere, but this really is nothing more than a network trying to latch onto the popularity of cooking reality shows and trying to ride the wave for some cheap ratings.

The guy looks like a vagrant with his straggly hair and checkerboard loafers, and I don't like the finger wagging he employs during the post-interview, as if he's imparting some profound wisdom.
