I know that this is bad (to put your DVD player, VCR, DSS, etc. directly on top of your TV) but why? What can result?
I have had to put my DVD on top of my 61" Sony XBR Projection TV for a while because I did not have long enough cords to put in on a shelf next to the TV. I am aware that I should not have done this but I really don't know why.
Could someone enlighten me. Also is it bad to put other things like decorations, etc. on the TV too?
Thanks in advance.

Also, can you put a center channel speaker on top of a TV? I am planning on rearanging my setup and doing this. Is this not wise?

I've never heard that you shouldn't put a dvd player/vcr on top of a t.v. About the only thing I can think of for not putting it there is the heat from the t.v., but that should be no problem. I've placed a vcr on top of my t.v. in the past with no problems at all.

As far as the center channel, on top of the t.v. is probably the most ideal location for most people. You must be sure that the speaker is magnetically shielded, otherwise it'll distort the t.v. picture.
