Heard of this older velodyne sub?

Anyone know anything about a Velodyne VA-1012 sub? I've got this: 12" passive downward firing woofer, 10" active, used to sold in Circuit City (don't know the store), discontinued after the CT series woofers.
I am about to visit a guy who selling a used one for half the list price. Just wanted to know if anyone had some info before I went. Audioreview didn't tell me alot.

I heard the sub at circuit city about two years ago. Played pretty well, but was just too expensive for me.
As a side note, I think there are newer subs that outperform it that only cost about $500. See the review of five $500 subs in the latest sound and vision magazine. The Hsu and Mission subs seem to be outstanding bargains. If you've been to audioreview, then you know that Hsu subs are probably among the best bargains out there.
