"Scrubs" ...is done after this season.

didn't see this reported anywhere as many thought the show was setting up new interns for S9, but according to John C. McGinley on the Bonnie Hunt show today (3/2/09) this is the last season and the remaining episodes will air starting on Wed, 3/18.

I knew Zach Braff wasn't going to be back, but thought the show would remain, especially after it has gotten much better from the previous 3 season (for me things went down hill after S4, S5 was decent, then 6 & 7 were horrid), apparently it will be gone for good.

sad.

Not really sad. 9 seasons is really good and do you really want to see a show going on without the stars like After Mash?
Quit while they are ahead.

You have to admit, 9 years is a DAMN long time for never being a hit show.

i thought it has only been 8. but anyway, ending a good show is always sad to see go and since it has picked up i would have liked to see more with all the others sans Braff. it could have worked.

If only Fox gave AD or Undeclared 9 seasons...

Reminds me of Coach, which also ran for nine seasons. I don't think it was ever very successful, either, but it was a great show.

Scrubs will run only 8 seasons at completion.

Cheers pulled off a main cast replacement of Shelley Long with Kristie Alley. Cheers actually got better the last 4 seasons after the replacement.

Sad, yes, but I'm just glad ABC gave Bill Lawrence enough episodes to properly close out this wonderful series.

I don't know about that, but Kirstie joined in season 6. That gave us 5 years of Diane and 6 of Rebecca.

Too bad since this season has really improved over the last few. Still, it had a good run and I enjoyed it.

It's amazing that this show has lasted as long as it did considering how it never was really treated with respect on NBC. If it wasn't from my DVR I doubt I could have kept up with all the scheduling changes it went through over the years.

For this example to work, Sarah Chalk would have to leave, not Zach Braff who is obviously the lead a la Ted Danson's Sam Malone. Kristie Alley gave the show some new blood, but again, the lead character remained.

I'm glad it's done. Love the show and I'm happy as punch they got to go out on their own terms. I HATE when shows decide to squeeze out another season once the lead leaves. It usually spells doom.

No Sarah Chalke = No reason for me to watch.

I'm glad to see it go out on it's own terms and not have to limp to the finish line.

I haven't watched the past couple of seasons. Did they bring in a wacky cousin to breathe some life into an aging show. That usually works well.

Actually, this season has been far more grounded and more like old Scrubs than the past couple of seasons were (season 7 especially). I hope they keep the quality up for the rest of the season. It's always nice when a show goes out on top.

It's had a good run, but I will miss the crew at Sacred Heart.

Who has two thumbs and doesn't give a crap.....

Awe even Kelso would be sad at this news. I am glad, like mentioned before, that it gets to go out on it's own terms.

Re: "Scrubs" ...is done after this season.

It would be strange to have Turk as a surgeon but no sight of Carla just as it would be even more stranger and heartbreaking for Turk to be without his hetero lifemate J.D.

And where would Elliot go? She went private practice so that would mean J.D. leaves with her. Hmmm.

That would eventually make Scrubs the parody of ER. Not good, eight seasons gave us plenty of time to watch the crazy kids grow up, learn, and change.

Re: "Scrubs" ...is done after this season.

I think I'm alright with this. I've actually really enjoyed this season and wouldn't have minded them continuing with these new interns. Getting rid of the four main characters and just keep the supporting cast would have worked well I think. Oh well. Now it's time to buy the Complete Series Set (please please please let it happen despite the switch in Networks).

Re: "Scrubs" ...is done after this season.

I'm going to miss this show a lot. When my Mom died back in September 2001, I sort of wandered around in a daze for a few days. At some point, I turned on the TV and caught the second episode of Scrubs (I had missed the first). It was the first time I remember laughing and being happy after she died. In a very strange way, knowing that this show won't be on the air any more feels like a chapter closing on my life.

Re: "Scrubs" ...is done after this season.

Definitely ranks as one of my favorite shows of all time, but it is time for it to end, especially with no Braff attached.
