FiosTV and Tivo HD
I've got FiosTV in my area and their HD content beats DirecTVs currently. I use to be a Tivo user until DirecTV took Tivo off their machines. Now i read that Tivo HD set works with FiosTV but there may be problems with certain channels. Anybody here has this combo and should i make the switch?

I have it and haven't had a single problem. The Fios signal is sometimes to "hot" for the Tivo and you might need to attenuate the signal. Suprisingly the only time I had a problem is when I upgraded one of my splitters, had to put the old cheap one back in and didn't have any more problem.

I wonder if Tivo is coming out with a new version anytime soon.
So would you recommend the jump to it?

Yeah go for it. Once Fios is in your house, it works just like regular cable. You'll need to get a cable card from Verizon. http://www.tivo.com/buytivo/faqs/abo...ecarddecoders/

You obviously get what you pay for. If you wanted a DVR then fine go with the Verizon one, which is $15.99 btw. Sure you'll be stuck with an inadequite 160GB HD that can't be upgraded and you'll be stuck with a guide that doesn't do the simplest of things like differentiate between a new episode and a repeat but you will save some money.

I have FIOS/Tivo and it's a great combination. Here's a thread from another forum that may answer some of your questions... http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...highlight=fios

I currently have DirecTV and the FiOS people are giving me the hard sell.
So I would have to buy a Tivo if I didn;t' want to use the FiOS dvr? How much for a good HD Tivo?

I just got Fios HD two days ago and new shows have a red NEW starburst graphic next to them in the guide.
I don't know if this is a recent development or not.....2 days and all.
