SNL Digital Shorts ...ever see a DVD release?

i was wondering if anyone knew of or think it would be a great idea to get a DVD of all or most of the SNL Digital Shorts?

i know i have scoured to see decent dl's of "Dear Sister" and more recently the Neil Patrick Harris "Doogie Howser, M.D." theme. i could watch those over and over. an then maybe to have some making of them...wow!

i would love to see a nice release in the vein of the SNL Best of Saturday TV Funhouse DVD

Re: SNL Digital Shorts ...ever see a DVD release?

I would love to have Dear Sister and the Doogier Howser stuff on dvd. However, if you pick up the Incredibad cd by the Lonely Island (Samberg, Schaffer & Taccone who do the SNL shorts) it comes with a bonus dvd with

VIDEOS
1. J**Z IN MY PANTS
2. JUST 2 GUYZ
3. LAZY SUNDAY (feat. Chris Parnell)
4. RAS TRENT
5. WE LIKE SPORTZ
6. D**K IN A BOX (feat. Justin Timberlake)
7. SPACE OLYMPICS
8. BING BONG BROTHERS

I would have liked to had I'm On a Boat, Dear Sister and Natalie's Rap, but whatever. I'll take it. I wouldn't be surprised if a dvd of their shorts comes out in the near future.

I'd be willing to bet they'll get a release eventually. Of course, knowing SNL DVDs, it's bound to be missing at least a couple of the best.

It will probably happen after they leave the show and it will be a "Best Of... SNL Digital Shorts" release. I don't remember them releasing a Best Of for any member(s) still currently on the show.

i don't think it has anything to do with whether or not Andy Samberg leaves as most of them are written by him and starring most of the cast. so the show would have to go off the air according to this logic.

Natalie's Rap is included on the HD, Blu-Ray, and 2-disc versions of V For Vendetta.

That was sadly missing from the Lonely Island DVD.

I read in Entertainment Weekly's "What to Watch" section, that NBC was going to show a special prime time SNL compilation of just Digital Shorts. I thought it was supposed to be on last night, but all they showed was "best of Tracy Jordan" and "best of Will Ferrel."

This actually doesn't excite me too much, considering all the editing they did on the Tracy Jordan one I caught last night. (Including the blurring of the mouths in addition to editing the words.) Lame.

I read that too. And thought the same that you did pertaining to the ferrell and jordan best of's. Alot of these shorts, i think, lose a bit when aired on broadcast tv. I would rather see a dvd of them all. The Lonely Island dvd does rock though.

I guess, I also forgot they produced a Best Of TV Funhouse even though the cartoons weren't done airing (I think).

Given that they did/will be showing a best of on TV then who knows, maybe a DVD could happen.

Re: SNL Digital Shorts ...ever see a DVD release?

Starbucks had an exclusive "Best of SNL" dvd that has "D*** in a box" on it. It's Uncut and anamorphic widescreen.
That disc sold for $20 at Starbucks, but is now showing up at FIVE BELOW stores for $5.00.

Re: SNL Digital Shorts ...ever see a DVD release?

Music rights could be an issue if they want to get them all together though. The reason they didn't include "Iran So Far" on Incredibad is apparently due to the rights to the Aphex Twin song costing too much. They'd run into that with "Dear Sister" too, but if it's only a couple of songs they might be able to do it. I don't think the Doogie Howser theme would be a problem, but you never know.
