CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More
Good news, fans of all things CW. The network just announced that it has renewed Smallville, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and 90210 for next season. America's Next Top Model has also been greenlit for two additional cycles.
“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” CW boss Dawn Ostroff, said in a statement. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”

Re: CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More
I have to say that "One Tree Hill" has to be one of the most successful unsuccessful show's of all time. I've been following the series since the first episode and it always seems to be one of those shows that keeps going and going. I also think its ironic that it will now be on the air longer than the show it was produced to replace: "Dawson's Creek".
Glad to see that "Supernatural" made the cut as well

Glad Supernatural and Gossip Girl are coming back. I am not sure that Smallville has another season in it.
How did 90210 get a pick up? I thought ratings were marginal? I also read they have put a Melrose Place reboot on there. Who makes these decisions, Monkeys?

That's a pretty solid description.
I'm not sure that any of these shows have another season in them, except for Gossip Girl, which has been solid through its sophomore season. The pilots from Hollywood must really be bad this year.

90210 does pretty good for what The CW wants. I had no doubt it would get picked up for a second season. Smallville needs to be put to bed.

Glad that Gossip, Supernatural and (sort of) 90210 got pickups... Smallville really has run its course and is coasting on fumes as it is - maybe if they amp up the Lois and Clark and get him into costume as Superman (fuck that early 'no tights, no flights' mantra) it could be revitalized.... I hope that Reaper and Privileged both get to come back, but somehow I doubt it.

Good news for OTH, Gossip Girl and Supernatural.
Smallville needs to be put to death whereas Privileged needs to be picked up.

Smallville is still the highest rated CW show with almost 4M viewers a week consistently. It's not a surprise at all that they chose to renew it. However, they need to sign Erica Durance full-time next season (22 episodes)

I think the best chance for Privileged is a 13 episode mid-season renewal, similar to what the CW did with Reaper.

Wow S9 is on. Hopefully the momentum stays and this season doesn't fall apart in the event they actually were headed towards closure and have to come up with something else last minute.
Re: Durance for S8 - true, but the show has been off for about 1 of those 3 months if not more.

Reaper's fate is yet to be determined since it doesn't return until next week. But I also would like to see it develop like it had during the 2nd half of S1.

The only reason I don't quit Smallville is because I want to see how it's going to end. I've been in since the beginning and it's been very trying at times. This season started out good but IMO it's done nothing but disappoint since the X-Mas break. I just don't know how they're going to drag another season out of it. You just know they're going to find a way to dig up Lana again next season.

I think it's funny they are continuing to build the channel as a "destination for young women" and it's all guys in here talking about the shows.
I'm happy to see Supernatural and Gossip Girl get renewed. 90210 I watch, but I can't say I'm invested in it so that doesn't really affect me in any way.
Privileged I have been feeling a little hesitant on lately. I enjoy Rose (especially Rose, hello Chris Hanson) and Sage but Megan has been starting to grate on my nerves. I woul like it to come back, but I won't be terribly disappointed if it doesn't.
I really want Reaper to come back. Hopefully it does well upon its return.
I haven't watched One Tree Hill in a while, but I think I want to pick up where I left off. I just don't really remember when that was.

Surprised to see Smallville back. I've really enjoyed this season but it felt like (to me) that they were heading towards a wrap up. I hope it doesn't overstay it's welcome (again).

Re: CW Renews 90210, Smallville and More
Let's see, the CW has 10 hours of weekday programming available:
Returning:
Smallville
Supernatural
One Tree Hill
Top Model
Gossip Girl
90210
On the Bubble:
Reaper
Privileged
The Game
Expected to be ordered to series:
Melrose Place
Lilly (Gossip Girl prequel)
Pilot ordered:
The Vampire Diaries
I don't know what else they have in the pipeline, but it seems feasible that Privileged could return.
