Need some help with a 2 channel setup for DVD's!

I have my dvd player hooked up to my stereo receiver. When I play a DVD that has both Dolby Digital 5.1 & Dolby Pro-Logic Surround, which one should I choose? Obviously, either one will be "downmixed" into 2 channels but i don't want an "echo" or hollow sounding playback (like some virtual surround mode)...is one better than the other???
