Does NOT work on the Amazon Exclusive Steelbooks :(

It's OK for those that missed out on the Bond BD deal in December. Most of us averaged under $5 per Bond BD if you bought 10... Obviously that deal won't happen again... Too bad Casino Royale isn't in this deal.

EDIT: I just realized 3 more Bond titles were being released. I missed that... But it isn't much of a deal if you get only 3 titles. $24 x 3 + $27 = $99 - $20 discount = $79 for 4 BD's. I don't want to pay more than $15 for BD's...

I thought the steelbooks were exclusive to Best Buy?

Not anymore...

I have no idea as to who would want to own 'Quantum of Solace' on BD let alone a SD. IMO, it should be forgotten that his POS was ever made

I think it's entertaining that this Quantum of Solace promotion applies to the MGM James Bond Blu-rays -- but doesn't include Casino Royale.

It worked for me. I just ordered QoS alone then request xx from the # of steels.

Wait, what? I tried to buy QoS + 3 BD Steelbooks and when I entered the code at checkout it came up with "We're sorry, but the promotional code you entered cannot be applied to this purchase. Please refer to your promotional coupon for information about item or store restrictions."

Why is Casino Royale the only one from Sony?

Why is Casino Royale the only one from Sony?

Just how things went when Sony sold off the rights to Fox. IIRC, Casino Royale was already in production.

Seems like a solid deal to me for the new Bonds and QoS. I'll just cancel my preorder if Best Buy comes through with a good offer. Thanks for the heads up!

Columbia Pictures, which Sony purchased, released the original Casino Royale back in 1967. MGM is involved in Casino Royale and Sony is involved in Quantum of Solace. They must have struck a deal with these movies to co-release them. Perhaps Sony does the release of Casino and Quantum is MGM's.

EDIT: Or what the person before me posted. :)

Haha thanks, I guess I just really hadn't paid attention.

On another note, i'm glad I dumped all my bond SB's, this seems like it would have been a headache...but I guess that's half the fun of collecting anyway!

After the great Black Friday deal on the the earlier Bond Blus, $20+ per movie seems too high for the newest 4. Maybe if the starting price for each was $19.99 I'd bite....

I placed an order for all the Steelbook Bonds, Never Say Never and QoS. E-mailed them and they manaually lowered the price for me $25 on one item to make up for the code not working :)

Emailed them with the code and asked them for the discount on the steelbooks, they ended up giving me 40% off the order instead of $40.

Thanks. They knocked $20 off my steelbook order. Still not a great deal, but it's my own fault for buying the first six in steelbook.

That's why I sold my steelbooks and held on to the duplicates I bought from that super deal at Amazon. I would have gone crazy trying to get those steelbooks.

The discs they are offering are the standard (non steel book) editions?

I was looking to buy some classic Bond BDs for my brother-in-law but I don't know if this is the deal I want. I enjoyed QoS fine in theaters but don't know if I need to own it.

Is it a good chance that the non-steelbook Bond flicks will include slipcovers? I actually don't want the steelbooks because I didn't get them the first time around. I just hope they all have slipcovers.

I was having this discussion with a friend last week. We came to the conclusion that the most likely scenario is that whether you buy the box sets, slipcover cases, or steelbooks you are probably going to get screwed somehow.

Box sets - Have to buy the Craig films and NSNA seperate.

Slipcovers - They'll probably get rid of the slipcovers half way.

Steelbooks - Huge chance they decide to stop releasing them half-way through.

that said, I think you're probably safest with the slip covers.

Hmm...

You're probably right. I thought I read a rumor that Casino Royale might be placed in one of the last box sets. I suppose that decision hasn't even be made yet. Never Say Never Again isn't canon, I don't worry about it.

How can Royale, a Sony release, be placed into a MGM (Fox) boxset?

It wouldn't be the first time that discs from various studios were all included in a boxset.

I bought the first 6 steelbooks at BB for $14.99 each so I am in for the 3 at Amazon. My question, do people think that these will be around for months after release date in the steelbook versions at Amazon? Are most preordering or hoping they'll be around a while and waiting for a better deal at Amazon later on?

My Best Buy still has some of the Steelbooks. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to ind them for a month or so after release.

You know, I used to obsess over the DVD packaging. Now, I realize, I am hocking them for Blu rays.

I also got those damn Slappa holder boxes and sleeves. I have my entire collection compressed to nothing now. I have sided with practicality now over covers. Haha

So, this is a pretty good deal, I have it in my cart right now, just teetering on if to pull the trigger.

Thanks!

I contacted Amazon to try and get the deal on the steelbooks and was turned down. They said the steelbooks weren't part of the deal and I could cancel my order. I canceled my order.
