Any Music You Don't Listen to Anymore?
I've been going thru my massive CD collection and listening to some of my CDs in the car every week, and realizing I've lost interest in some of the groups/music I used to enjoy.
What bands, music, songs you used to like/love at one time - you don't anymore?

Not really into the 'hardcore' rock anymore either.

I still have some hard/glam rock from the 80's I can't really get into anymore, like the original GNR. Some of my older prog rock records are kind of a chore to listen to now as well.
I can't imagine ever getting tired of some of my heavy stuff though. It's going to be weird to be an elderly guy cranking Fear Factory, Opeth and other "oldies" in the future.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too many to mention.
If you compare what I listen to now to what I listened to in 1978 you would think I was two different people.
Styx, REO Speedwagon, Boston, Yes were all blown out when Elvis Costello The Pretenders and The Clash arrived and I have stopped listening to hundreds of bands since then.

Essentially classic rock. I hated most 80's music during that time so I relied heavily on classic rock. By the time the 90's rolled around, I got bored to death of that stuff and wasn't a fan of the 90's grunge, etc - so I just stopped listening to music altogether.
Now I still don't listen to classic rock, but I'm all over the map now listening to blues, jazz, classical, and some rock/pop from the 90's till now.

I've stopped listening to any form of Rap as well. The light rock stuff that came out in the early '90's doesn't get played much any more.

I listen to much less classic rock than I used to, particularly some of the more Prog Rock stuff. My tastes have drifted more toward garage/punk over the last decade or so.

About 8 years ago, I was really into jambands...Phish, Widespread Panic, moe., String Cheese Incident. I still enjoy Phish (travelling cross-country to see their return in March), but other than that, I have absolutely no interest in the genre anymore.

Music really just doesn't mean much to me anymore. As a kid I loved 70's stuff like Zeppelin, Queen, Springsteen and Deep Purple. I still like that stuff, but don't seek it out. Whatever's on Sirius 24 or 25 is what I listen to now.

I still enjoy all the music I've ever cared for but listening habits have changed. I find it hard to just sit and listen to harder rock, but still blare it while driving or in the background while doing something else.

I'm going to jamming on the same music the day before I die ( hopefully that'll be a long way away ) that I have been playing all of my life ( Motorhead, Megadeth, UFO, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Outlaws, etc.) I could be 70, and still kicking out the jams.
To answer the thread ouestion: One band that I don't listen to anymore is Metallica. I think it's more of a image thing more than anything else.
They started out great, but after Master of Puppets I lost interset in them and never have gotten it back.

While I now listen to a lot more stuff than I used to, I still enjoy all the stuff I used to listen to as a kid, even cheese like Duran Duran. There are a couple exceptions though, while I still love New Order, I don't have the same level of love I did back in '83/'84, and I certainly don't like Depeche Mode as I did back during that time in jr. high. Also, I was a huge Rush fan in high school (late '80s), now, not so much...

Re: Any Music You Don't Listen to Anymore?
When I was younger my musical tastes would jump around a bit but during whatever time I was deeply into that one specific type of music.
mid-80s: Pop and Freestyle
Late 80s - early 90s: New Wave/Alternative (The Cure, DM, Erasure...Euro Pop)
Mid 90s: Classic Rock, Jam/College Bands
Late 90s through now: Progressive House/EDM
The only one I have stopped listening to is Classic Rock...more specifically Top 40 classic Rock. There is still some that I like, but in general, if they play it on Q104 in NY, I probably hate it.
I was 12 in the mid 80s so my music exposure was limited to the radio.
When I became a teen and discovered New Wave, it was all I listened to.
When I got into college it was all about the classic rock and the college bands...Phish, DMB, and Blues Traveler. I saw BT 35 times.
When I got out of college a friend of mine dragged me to Sasha and Digweed in NYC and I was hooked. So much that I started DJing.
But for every type of new music that I discovered, I added to my taste, not so much replaced...except for classic rock. My iPod now has everything from DMB to Sinatra to Pryda to Vampire Weekend to The Pixies and on and on. I even like a little wee bit of metal.
