Emmy snubs ...what do you think are big ones?
I am currently re-watching "The West Wing" from the beginning on DVD and just cannot fathom how Martin Sheen didn't even win once out of the 6 times he was nominated. I know he had some good competition, but Michael Chiklis over him, no.
I know the supporting cast has won many and righfully so, they are front and center mostly, Allison Janney (many), John Spencer, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, and i think even Stockard Channing won, but not Sheen, even once?
everytime i watch him he just makes you believe he is the most powerful man in the world. i can't see anyone else in that role and everytime i see a President portrayed on tv ("24") they never even compare. he is so regal and some of the episodes he takes charge and even with just a look he floors me.
i just can't believe he has not won for THIS role ever in it's run (as he has won for other roles in primetime and daytime).
so what do you think are some really big snubs in the history of the Emmy's according to you?

The fact that John C. McGinley has never even received a nomination for supporting actor in a comedy (Scrubs) is the biggest snub I can think of right now.

From an Emmy perspective: Two nominations for writing...and that's it.

I recall Joss getting snubbed for, perhaps (it's been a while), a handful of Buffy episodes: Hush, The Body and Once More with Feeling. One, I can't recall which, had a screw up with the sample dvds in relation to the vote due.

Lauren Graham for Gilmore Girls was always snubbed--and she should have been nominated, at the very least, again and again.

Have you watched The Shield? Michael Chiklis is amazing, and I'll go further to suggest that Forest Whittaker, Walton Goggins, and Jay Karnes have been repeatedly snubbed by the Emmys.

Lost being snubbed. The show, Henry Ian Cusick, Matthew Fox, Terry O'Quinn and Josh Holloway have been snubbed over and over.

love TS, but i don't think Chiklis brought anything new that we haven't seen on Hill Street Blues or NYPD Blue. i don't deny he was great in the role, but not better than MS in any year.

The biggest snub is that they didn't just retire the Emmy Awards completely after The Wire went off the air. I doubt any show will ever equal it in quality.

Walton Goggins was unbelievable last season in The Shield. I thought it would clean up after last season but didn't get a nom.

Agreed, well mostly. I can't say the entire cast, but definitely Best Drama and Connie Britton for best actress.
BSG - for best drama, although at least it was nominated once for writing
In Treatment - best drama and the entire cast. Dianne Wiest and Glynn Turman both won, but I felt out of everyone on the show that Dianne's was the least appreciative of an award (and that is saying a lot). At least Gabriel Byrne was nominated. But I cannot for the life of me understand how Mia Wasikowska and Blair Underwood were not nominated (and win). Some of the finest acting I've seen in a long long time.
They seem to watch the first season of a show and if that actor is deserving that year they will continue to nominate them year after year, I'd be surprised if they even watched them in successive years. And any big name actor that does a guest spot ALWAYS gets nominated, it's all a bit silly really.

Or they just figured they'd give every possible award to Tony Shalhoub.
one of the two.
