To DualShock or not to DualShock (3)?

So ... I've been using the original SixAxis controller that came with my PS3, which hasn't really bothered me much since up until December of 2008 I had only a few games.

Since then I've gotten a LOT more games, with major releases like Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, F.E.A.R. 2, among others (mainly FPS's), with other titles like Killzone 2, Dead Space, and Fallout 3 coming my way also.

The question is: should I now invest in a DualShock 3 controller? I'm a little hesitant since I would just be gaining the rumble functionality, although I would enjoy greater gameplay immersion. Advice?

Basically, I'm just wondering if the DualShock 3 really is worth it. And, yes, I know I'm about a year late to wonder.

I bought one, used it for a while and went back to the Sixaxis. The motion is more responsive in Eden, and I just prefer the weight of it over the DS3.

Just buy another PS3 for the controller, it makes justifying the second, third, and fourth blu ray players much much easier. Now I have 5 PS3 controllers, and only one is dual shock.

haha, he's saying buy a system and not just a controller

I would buy a DS3. It's worth it IMO. I think Amazon has it pretty cheap now too (around $40)

I'd say get a DS3 as well. For shooters, the tactile sensation of getting hit is very useful. If I'm playing PJ Eden or Flower, I'll go with a sixaxis, but for a shooter, I find the DS3 much better.

I prefer a DS3 as well. The rumble is nice, but the added heft makes the controller feel more substantial.

Get the DS3. The sixaxis is like holding some socks. Too light weight. The DS3 doesn't vibrate with COD4 though.

DualShock just feels more natural with its heft.

If you have a circuit city you can try there. Mine currently has them for 40% off. Picked up a second controller.

I picked up a second so I could, you know, have a second player play with me. Are we all hermits here or what?

I actually picked up a 2nd controller (non Dual shock, of course) as soon as the PS3 came out, and I hadn't even opened it until Little Big Planet came out...

Surprising to see people stating that the DS3 has "heft". Guess I'm too used to the 360 controller.

Same here, though I picked mine up a week ago and the CC had plenty of DS3s left. The other 2 CCs I hit up over the weekend didn't have any though, so it's a crapshoot. Still, can't argue with $36 for a DS3 (and it made the girlfriend happy because now she actually gets to play once in a while).

Mine had like 10-15 yet on Monday. Kind of thinking I could have waited to half off.

I didn't get a new DS3 until my old Sixaxis (launch system) started having problems with the circle button. I had a new Sixaxis still in the package, and opened it and the square button was bad

I returned it and have two DS3's now. I like the feel of it better as well.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to go ahead and get one. Looking forward to shooting up some enemies (and getting shot) with the force feedback!

I think I'm going to try the dreamgear Shadow. It's only $40 at amazon.
