I have a Compaq 5441 with 128 MB SDRAM AMD 475 MHz. I used PowerDVD and it played DVD's great in Win98. Now I put in a fresh clean Win 2000 and I installed Powerdvd and it said it is for 95 or 98. It still works with 2000, but lots of frame skips and it seems kinda slow and bogged down. Anyone know what I should do or should I try some other software??
Thanks,
Kevin

mechanik,
You might want to repost this in the DVD-ROM And PC Hardware forum, as you will probably get a better response there. This forum is only for home theater hardware.

First thing to try is getting a Windows 2000 version of the drivers for your VGA card. Many VGA cards used in DVD-ROM systems have some special features that help in decoding the MPEG-2 video streams, such as color space conversion, scaling, and even DCT functions.
There is a chance that Windows 2000 did not have the latest driver update for your card, and so it just installed the standard VGA driver, which wont take advantage of all of the features of your VGA board.
I suggest you visit the technical support website of the vendor who makes your VGA board and see if they have any Windows 2000 versions of their drivers.
