The hint on their goldbox page reads, "Get ready for toe-tapping fun." As far as I can surmise, the most likely candidate would be the $500 Hollywood Musicals Collection.

I'm in for one. Wonder what my Sound of Music 5-star collection is worth...

Ya know I think Amazon found a way to keep their sales high.

Offer Lightening Deals/DOTD on DVDs EVERY FREAKIN' DAY.

This one doesn't interest me, but I fear that they will find a way to drain my wallet like they did during HBO week. I almost wish they'd stop. I don't remember this many DVD deals in the past. But of course I can excercise free will and buy what I really want. Right?

I really hope that's what it is. I was looking at my dvd set over the weekend and was thinking how I needed to upgrade.

OK, time for everybody to laugh at the weirdo...but I've never seen a Planet of the Apes movie in its entirety. If the box set is what today's deal is, would it be a good blind buy (assuming it's no more than $40-50)? I guess if I could get it that cheap, I'd probably be able to get my money back re-selling if I really hated them?

I think I can top that. The only one I've seen is Tim Burton's.

Oh, and I plan to keep it that way.

IMO, the first, third and fourth are good.

Just remember, they don't come in cases, the discs are store in a cd book like case.
It may drop the price down a few scheckels if you sell them in CD sleeves.

Alright, well, I'll go for it if it's cheap enough, and just sell the whole thing as a set if I'm not enthralled. I just kind of feel obligated to give it a fair shake. Of course renting them one by one would make more sense, but wouldn't be nearly as fun.

It is the ape head. Called it! lol now whether to buy it or not. I already have the Legacy set. Discount isn't as good as I was hoping for though.

This was my second choice. Really thought it'd be the Blu-Ray set.

I also have the Legacy set, but I'm a HUGE POA fan.

SOLD.

I got the Ape Head with a deal they had in August 2007 (thank you Amazon for remembering the order) for $98. This is an excellent price.

This isn't the best price they've had. I got it in July '08 when it was priced at $58.99.

But it's a good price for 6 movies, the TV show, the cartoon series, and the great documentary.

Re: Amazon Gold Box: Lunchtime Deals 2/16/09-2/20/09

I picked it up, since I only have the old non-anamorphic dvds and don't plan on going Blu-ray for a while. I can sell off the older set. Of course now the wife now told me that I can't buy any dvds for awhile.

I would be all over this if the Blu Ray set didn't exist. I missed out on this every other time they had a steal. But alas, I bought the TV series and animated series already, and have the Blu Ray set. Not worth it for the head alone...

The first movie is great, but I think the rest are guilty pleasures. I own the standard box set (Legacy Coll.) with the 6 films, which I was able to get on sale at amazon for $25-30. In your case, I don't think this is the set for you, especially with the price tag being as high as it is even on sale. This set is more for die-hard fans or collectors. If I were you I would pick up the 35th anniversary edition of the first film (which I found at target not too long ago for $5.50) or hold out for a sale on The Legacy Collection for a similar price as I got it for.

Ouch! $66.99 for the SD set??!?!?!?
That is a horrible price for the Blu-Ray set.
They should have had a laugh between them and just charge $80 for it.
