Hi,
I'm sorry to start another thread, but I feel it is needed. The Raite av715 has been out for a time now, and I am looking for some comparisons. We have seen a comparison of the Raite 715, Raite 711, and Apex machines, but now lets get a comparison to other traditional machines; the tosh, sony, jvc, etc.
I have a JVC 511-BK that has not been working well for me. It was serviced extensively and the only result seems to be that it can play DTS. However, it won't read Heat, messes up on various other DVDs; Rushmore Crit, Austin Powers 2, Frantic, Cruel Intentions. Different copies of the same disc would work, but this is still annoying as my "bad" discs work in other systems. In other words, I want to replace my JVC.
Please help me to compare the Raite av715 to other players in picture and sound quality, but even more importantly, let me know if there are any problems with your players dying or with playing DVDs (layer changes, pixelation, not even reading the DVD, etc).
I thank you in advance,
Barry

I have the Raite and a Panasonic. I would "rate the Raite" as average for a DVD player. NO problems with any discs so far, but nothing that would make this player stand out for me. Of course, it is the special features that make this player a steal at $150 or so.
