Hi Folks,
I just ordered a 32inch Toshiba, CN32V71. I'm planning to hook it up to my Toshiba 2200 (equivalent to 3109) DVD Player. I've been using S-Video cables up to know, but since the Toshiba has the options for component, I figure I might as well move up to that. 2 Questions, first, where can I get a cheap set of cables? (Ie Radio Shack? If so, what do I call em, I assume Radio Shack doesn't call em component video cables?) Second, is worth going from S-Video to component with cheap cables, or do I have to use expensive ones to see an improvement. In other words, has anyone gone from S-Vid to cheap component and seen an improvement. What are some midranged cables and where can I get em? I live in Westchester, NY, so we got most chains here, or I can buy off the net..
thanks,
-Shaown

I use 3 composite video cables (make sure they are the same length) that I got at Best Buy for $5 each and I can tell a difference between component and S-Video. If you can find them Acoustic Research has a nice set for under $30.

Buying cheap cables for component video is like using bubble gum to fix a leak in the Space Shuttle. You will degrade the performance more so that using a decent S-Video cable becaus eyou have THREE cables that will degrade quality, not just one. With a nice TV and DVD player, you should spend the $50-$75 for a good set of cable that will last you until you next "upgrade".

Have a good one....
