Good and affordable sports games for the 360?

I've yet to buy any sports games for my 360 since things have changed since I last bought sports games for any console.

I'm looking for good affordable games for the following sports:

Baseball
Football (College and NFL)
Basketball (College and NFL)
Golf: I'm thinking I should just wait till Tiger Woods 09 goes on sale or pay full price; I had 07 for the original XBox and it was great.
Soccer: Suggest something that I can find cheap as well as the best game you can buy, regardless of cost.
Hockey: Suggest something that I can find cheap as well as the best game you can buy, regardless of cost

Baseball: the best seems to be The Show, which is only on PS3, so I guess 2K is the best? does Microsoft still make a baseball game?

NFL and College Football: there is really only one game out there for each.

Basketball: Choose 2K over Live

Or are you asking which particular year to buy?

Re: Good and affordable sports games for the 360?

The Bigs is the best baseball game on the 360. If you don't want the slightly amped up, arcade stylings, though, you're out of luck for that sport.

Previous 2k attempts have ranged from absolutely pathetic to average. MLB 2k9, with gameplay videos released today, indicate that the series (finally under Visual Concepts' direct control) may tread into 'Good' territory. Of course, when it's released at the standard $60 launch price, it may not qualify as 'Affordable'.

Soccer: FIFA 09 (best)
Hockey: NHL 09 (best) NHL 2K8 or 9 (affordable) -- NHL 3 on 3 available on XBLA
Golf: I have Tiger 09, had 07. Great game if you want to play online (simultaneous shots, you don't have to wait around for other players)...if not, go with 08.

2K basketball (08 should be cheap)...EA for football (again, 08 should be cheap)

Yeah the years would be helpful, since a few couple year old versions can be had for $5 or less.

If you're looking for a good cheap football game, check out All Pro Football 2K8. It's $10 new at Amazon and you can probably find a used version for $5-$6.

Whatever you do, avoid the 06 and 07 Maddens. Aside from not having all the features of the previous generation's games at that time, 08 was the year they got back to 60fps (09 for PS3). Maybe you should check eBay, because I imagine a lot of people are selling their copies of 09 since the season's over.

I second NHL 09, I'm not a huge hockey fan and even I love this game. Also The Bigs is the best (albeit flawed) arcade version of baseball. MLB 2K8 = bleh

I'm curious as to how you think The Bigs is flawed. In my opinion, in terms of on-the-field gameplay, the concept probably couldn't have been executed any better.

You may be alluding to the lack of a true season mode, though, which was a VERY big flaw... enough, on its own, to have forced the game to sleeper status.

Re: Good and affordable sports games for the 360?

Lack of a full season mode, Lack of full rosters, the CPU's fielding is ridiculously lucky/good especially robbing HRs and making spectacular fielding plays on routine ground balls, and by the time I finished it, I was winning every game by 20+ runs, it really didn't have the longevity of a game like MVP Baseball. I 1000/1000 it after about 20 days (and most of that was just going through the 2 different rookie challenges), and I never saw any reason to play it again after and sold it.

Shoot... I didn't need yet another new game, let alone a hockey game, but I saw this at Target and remembered what you said and picked it up. Argh!

Did the 2k $10 off coupon expire? If not you would be able to pick up nba2k9 and nhl 2k9 for about $30 a piece.
