Man From London (UK): 4/6/09

Pre-order from Amazon for £11.69. Artificial Eye will also be releasing The Bela Tarr Collection on that day, consisting of Man From London, Werckmeister Harmonies and Damnation. No word on Man From London extras, if any, or whether the latter two titles will be identical to the previously released editions. I wasn't that taken with Man From London, but anything Tarr is still a must buy.

In several years of attending the NY Film Festival, this was one of the few movies that I couldn't sit through. I'm sure this film has its admirerers, but you might want to make sure you are one of them before spending your money.

Have you seen any of Bela Tarr's other films? I do agree that his style is definitely not for everyone - the pacing and dryness make Dreyer seem like McG.

I saw this with two friends at the AFI EU film fest in 2007, oi! they couldn't stand it, they thought it was like watching paint dry. I generally liked it, but my friends take on the film hurt my overall opinion of the film.

That's what Harry Moseby said about Rohmer!
